Will my Rig hold up to Next Gen?

Recommended Posts

will my computer be able to keep up with the performance of a ps4 and xbox one?

No, your CPU is a quad-core that performs on-par with an i3 cause it's overclocked insignificantly. Card and RAM are good though.

Not quite. Your video card is slightly behind, but still good enough to compete with the Xbone. Your RAM is excellent. Your CPU, however, is weak. I suspect it'll hold you back a bit.

For 240$ I'd go with an FX 8350, it fits into the same socket your CPU uses (AM3+), but since FX 4300 is a 95W model and I'm not sure which motherboard you have, I don't know if your mobo will support a 125W CPU. It likely will, but as I said, I'm not sure.

Eeyup, works with Piledriver FX-series since F3 BIOS, has a VRM heatsink and supports 125W CPUs. So yeah, FX 8350 would be the most cost-effective upgrade, it's maybe some ~10% faster than FX 4300 in per-core but on the other hand, it's also nearly 2x faster in multi-threading due to having 8 cores. Plus, 83xx chips usually overclock like crazy, so if you like to OC, you'll like the 8350 as well.

You do not compare PS4 specs to PC specs, they're not even in the same line of processors. PS4 uses an AMD Jaguar SoC, a ~30W mobile processor based on AMD's Steamroller architecture coupled with an on-chip GPU, designed to compete against Intel mobile processors. Current FX series are ~125W desktop processors based on Piledriver architecture, no iGPU, designed to compete with entry-level Intel i7 desktop processors.

The only two things they share is that they are both based off Bulldozer and they are both x86 architecture. Power-wise, even a stock FX 8320 is more powerful than the PS4 CPU.
