Bag of Holding

I am new to Morrowind and this forum. Sorry in advance if this is posted in the wrong place.

I am at level 20 in the game and I am having a lot of trouble with having to leave some valuable treasures behind, for lack of strength.

Before anyone is offended by the suggestion of cheating, I would like to say I have been playing RPG's for over 20 years and even the very first adventure group I was involved with was introduced to the idea of a "Bag of Holding". I do not want to cheat to get one, tough, so if anyone knows a Mod that I can play to win one that would be great too.

I don't expect the container to carry everything; I would just like to carry some of those claymores out of the caves, so I can practice at enchanting them mostly. I like my current weaponry and I am afraid to enchant it foolishly and waste it. I have gotten rid of too many "fine" items so far due to not having named it properly; out of rushing to enchant something on the third attempt. Sorry, I am a perfectionist. If it is not just right, then... well you probably know how it is.

I appreciate any nudge in the right direction! Thanks!

I am not totally sure, but I do believe there is no such mod. I have checked Morrowind summit, and I do believe that it does not exists. It is interestingconcept however, and I spent many a coin in Neverwinter nights for one of them magic bags. What I would suggest is to find yourself a mark/recall spell, and either get enough to magick/level of skill to cast it with a high enough success. Or since you are an enchanter, why don't you enchant a ring with 'mark', and 'recall'. Would net you a way to get back to whereever you need to be, and a way to get yourself a higher enchant skill, sorta. The mark skill is in balmora Mages guild, or maybe Caldera's, and the Recall is located in Vivec's mage guild.

Another thing you could do is to enchant some of your amor, or some rings/amulets to fortify your strength. A Gold Saint Soul is suggested, but I am sure you could make a decent enough spell, instead of Constant Effect. Another way to raise your Enchants skill, too.

If you so want, I am sure that a companion mod may be able to work for you. As far as I have been told you need to hire a mercenary, and you can make him carry stuff/attack stuff. A Pack guar may be what is for you! Although it won't be enchantable, A pack guar would not be to game unbalancing. These are relatively common.

There is no 'bag of holding' however, but I do hope my ideas are an acceptable consolation.

Yes, I do like the idea of enchanting a ring with Mark/Recall.

I am currently expelled from the Mages Guild, though (for sleeping in the wrong bed apparently - twice). This makes it a lot harder to find the Mark/Recall spells to enchant with. I also cannot fortify attributes yet. I can restore attributes; but not fortify yet. It is all a matter of choices. I have been suspended since about level 12 or 13. I keep making amends and they keep saying the committee is meeting any day now (Did you ever see "The Money Pit"... Two Weeks is all I have to say about that).

Thanks, though, a lot of really good ideas.

There are several options if you want to use mods. The first is to find one that will give you a companion. Using a beast of burden in human form is a good way of carrying stuff around with you as you will also get help in a fight. Increasing your strength by constant effect magic can take it to at least 2000 without cheats. If you want to store items, there are mods with chests etc. that have infinite holding capacity. Without mods I suggest taking over a few houses in Balmora. Ralen Hlaalo is dead so you don't have to kill anyone and there is a reasonable amount of storage/tables etc. You will in time get three other smaller houses (if you do all the quests). And once you have finished with Ondres Nerano....

Mark and Recall spells may be purchased in the lower floor of the Balmora Temple.

For the mages guild expulsion you need to wait two game weeks.

you can download a tent with a fixed wieght, but you can enter it and drop things with out effecting the wiat of the tent. so you just drop it, walk inside, drop your loot, walkout side and pix up the text again. it's really amazing scripting.

go to dongles web page for the "ranger tent" mod

  • 2 weeks later...

Some house mods come with a teleport item that teleport you back home. It's kinda cheating, but you can use mark at the place you want to loot, and teleport back and forth.

According to the editor there are amulets of mark and recall in the game.

The amulet of mark should be on Galtis Serethi, in a cave called Shurinbaal, on an island next to Gnaar Mik.

The amulet of recall should be able to be purchased from Verick Gemain a trader in Caldera.

Dear gods man. you play video games, and yet have no knowledge of D&D, or any of the video games based of them, such as Neverwinter Nights?

I pity you.

Anyway, a bag of holding would be able to holdsome of your items, and decreased the weight a bit. A mediocre one may take off up to 40%, but I rember getting one that allowed you to take off 80%. Anyway, it was quite beautiful, a half elf wizard runnig around looting the bodies of a dead wizard, stealing everything he had, selling it later, and coming back later with full pockets..

Ahem, yes, its a nifty item, and would do quite well in Morrowind. I encourage all of you modders out there to make me one, since it would ve quite well liked by the D&D community.
