LE Minor modding request, tips for DIY

So, I want to make some minor modifications to an exiting armor mod for my own use. I don't have any experience modding, but I assume that it's pretty minor, as it only requires existing resources. It's a modification of Hatvig's Exiled Blades Armor: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22495/?

 

The modifications I want to make are the following:

 

1. New gauntlets based on the Blades Gauntlets, using the same fur cuff used on the boots of the original mod

2. The same studded fur flap in the front as in the back of the original mod, taken from the Steel Plate armor. If possible, a bit longer and slimmer compared to the one on the back

3. Compatible with Cobal's aMidianborn Blades Armor retexture

- less important, but nice would be to make it compatible with Cobal's Steel Plate armor retexture.

 

It would be great if someone wanted to help me out by making it, but I'll even be greatful if someone can show me a video or a walkthrough on how to do it myself.
