New to Modding... Help?

So after playing vanilla New Vegas for a while now, beating the storyline every which way, and completing most, if not all, side stuff, I figured I'd try to install a few mods. My only problem is I don't know how to do this and was hoping someone could help me figure out how to do so. I downloaded a couple mod files using the manager but I'm not sure what my next step is. There isn't exactly a beginner's guide to modding, and I've searched for one and couldn't find one. Installation instructions weren't exactly clear on what to do either. From what I read, it's just "Extract file here and you're done" but I tried that and nothing happened.

The mod I'm trying to install is the FNV Sexual Innuendo, found here: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/36659/?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend you install either Fallout Mod Manager or Nexus Mod Manager. NMM is easier to use IMO, as you can download mods directly to it. For most mods, you can also install it directly in NMM by double clicking it. If you plan on installing more than a couple of mods, get BOSS as it will sort the load order of mods for you.

Some people also recommend learning to install mods manually for which there should be instructions on every mod page for how to do that.

BOSS does sort and put the mods in the correct order - However, As good as it is, it is not perfect, and the BOSS team is a bit swamped in adding the thousands of new files that come in to their database. There is more to it than just sticking a mod in - it needs to be tested and checked for where it should go in relation to thousands of other mods before it can be added. And that takes time.

Use BOSS as the first step in setting your load order. Any unrecognized mods will be shown as not recognized and placed at the end of the list.

However, It cannot fix mod errors - but can tell you about some (not all) of them, and does make suggestions as to what you should do.

You still need to actually read the documentation for each mod you use to make sure you are using it correctly.
