Keep a savegame below lvl 20

From what I read, people using slower_leveling mod with Broken Steel will crash when leveling beyond level 20. It doesn't matter whehter it is v1.5 or older.

For Broken Steel, experience for lvl 20 is 29450; however, if you are using slower_leveling mod, lvl 16 is already 34500. In other words, when you reach lvl 20 under slower_leveling it will be much much greater than 29450. Tthis may be the reason that causes the crash. Even if you disable slower_leveling at level 20, your character will continue level up every second to say up to level 30 (66700) if lvl 20 under slower_leveling is 66700 or more.

My character now is lvl 15 under slower_leveling and having exp close to 34500; however, lvl 16 under Broken Steel is just 16450. In order to avoid the above problems, I need to use console command rewardxp -18050 to reduce my character exp and save the game. Then, using this savegame without slower_leveling as a new start to play the game with Broken Steel.

Broken Steel and v1.5 are really destroying most of the community mods - this is sad.

Extreme Slow Leveling has a component, called 0xlevel.esp. This resets you level tables to default. He made it in case you wanted to go back to normal leveling speed. I plan on using it.

I try your suggestion of using 0xlevel.esp from Extreme Leveling. It only resets the level table but does not change the exp your character has already gained - same result as disabling slower_leveling.esp.

The exp of my character is alaready more than 30000. Either disabling slower_leveling.esp or using 0xlevel.esp dose not change this number. I still need to use rewardxp to reduce the exp of my character.

The strange thing is that from the description of people experiencing crash when using leveling mods with Broken Steel, it seems like the leveling mods are able to overwite the level table before lvl 21 but fail to do so after lvl 20.

Ok, I see your issue. I wonder if it would be possible to create a script that would resent your current exp back to zero, basically adding it to 0xlevel.esp so you have restored level tables and reduced exp? I can see the code to do it, but I'd need to know sever things, like how different quest scripting is in F3 than OB, and what variable (if any) your current exp is stored in.

I think the real issue isn't broken steel overwriting the level tables, I think the variable that stores the next level exp target is too small to store the (rather large) number, like an 8 bit or smaller number, and not a 32 bit integer. Probably the devs never realized that someone would think the exp targets were too low...idiots....

Is there a mod that reduces the exp rewards, instead of raising the exp requirement?

Ya Broken Steel and V1.5 is just Bethesda's way of sticking the middle finger to user generated content i bet there pissed because normal people cant make better stuff then them so their like "Ok in the next update lets just make all mods defective so our users will get pissed."In my case i can't go past lvl 21 i rank up and my game freezes when i choose a perk. i even deactivated all my mods and it still happened so idk whats up but i am super pissed off about this
