LE Spartacus. A Gladiator mod, from slave to Dominus.

Hello all,

How to start, Hi, I'm new to these forums, been enjoying these mods so much, especially the immersion mods. When I started playing Skyrim, I was mostly disappointed that it wasn't adult enough. I wanted Robert E Howard dark fantasy, with violence and sex and an epic atmosphere. I didn't get that. The mods on this site has improved my experience so much, but there's still things I'd like to see. Leaving the random crucifixions, public executions and rampant sex for now, One other thing I always wanted was a Colosseum, and I finally got that with the Dwemmer Colosseum, but there was still something missing.

 

Okay let me paint it out for you guys.

You use alternate start to start out as a slave that's being sold at auction.( I'd like to see a slave market in the bigger cities, where prostitutes and potential warriors/gladiators are displayed at the market like cattle, NPC's having bidding wars over them. The monger selling them etc) You are shackled and chained and you have nothing. (There's a mod over at love lab that allows you to be captured and enslaved.)

You are spotted by a potential buyer, A Dominus or somebody that's buying on his behalf. You are then sold to him and then taken to his Ludis somewhere near the city or in the city, this can be done real time, as you either are taken in a carriage with other slaves or pulled behind their horses. There can be random attacks on the road from enemies of the Ludis ( There's a Political aspect to it.)

When you get to the Ludis, The Dominus introduces himself to his new projects and tells them that his Ludis will be the greatest in Skyrim. You get introduced to the Doctore and he starts to work you, you cant go anywhere so you might as well train, you can try and escape but I'd doubt you will make it past the guards, Or they will hunt you down like a dog. At night you sleep or feast with the rest of the slaves ( Prostitutes and alcohol abound if you are celebrating.) You are also given a name by the house, you can choose one once you gain your freedom, but the people of Skyrim will know you by your house name.

You will then be taken to a local match to fight in a small arena, The Colosseum is the goal.

You will work your way up and eventually (Hopefully become champion or gain your freedom.)

If you gain your Dominus' trust, he will send you on political missions, or you can accommodate him to parties and such to further his own courier, Parties can be held at the Ludis as well, where all sorts of depraved things might take place. (Assassinations,arson, delivery of goods or letters.)

 

You can be sold to opposing Ludis' if the Dominus sees fit. You have no say in the matter.

 

If you do badly and bring shame to your house, you are flogged or executed/ sent away/ sold/ or this is inspired by the stars show and the first Conan movie:

Get sent to the pits. This is a horrible place where there is no honer and you fight in hope of death, so you can rest. Win enough of these brutal fights and you are reinstated in the Ludis.

 

You will be able to watch matches and partake in them if you so see fit. Betting on matches would be an option.

The Dominus or who ever hosts the games will have a little intro where he addresses the crowd. They can also decide if your opponent/you die at the end. They can show mercy depending on the crowd response.

You can also become a Dominus yourself, and train slaves and followers to fight for you in the arena. (You can also become Dominus if you decide to overthrow your own, if you convince enough of the other slaves.) So you won't have to start a new game.

 

Immersion.

Random NPC's that talk about the games, share their excitement, their favorite Gladiators, spread rumors about their favorites and so on. The Gladiator Culture should be part of the Skyrim world.

Posters, Ludis addressing the streets, parading of Gladiators to inspire awe to let people know of the games.

Bards sing of the games.

The king attending the games.

Dragons attacking arena's.

All this around the civil war.

Packed stadiums, everyone has come to see.

Intense battles especially if you are the attraction, ring of fire, all that.

I believe this will be an epic mod, could even constitute as an expansion pack. There are already so many different arena mods, combine them.

 

I have modded before( MUA and various generation 1 and 2 games, but I'm to busy to do this now,)

I'd do a few voices, help with the story design etc no problem. I think it could fit into the lore given that theirs a Character called General Tullius and they all wear roman attire?)

 

I hope this can be realized, most of the assets are already in the game( What I see when i think of it), and a few mods can probably be modified to do the other things.

Always glad to see another Howard fan here. :thumbsup:

 

What you are describing is not a mod but an entirely new game. Even if you get a lot of help, expect several years of constant work. For an example of what can be done look at the Nehrim spin off from Oblivion. It is not Oblivion, but uses Oblivion engine as a base for a completely different game. It does require Oblivion to play.

Hi Bben, yep I like his work a lot, I never thought of it as being as intense as a tc, more like a little add on to the world.

 

I started a new game and got a little bit of the Dwemmer Colosseum experience. It's a little buggy, like doors not opening and music disappearing and such but the Colosseum experience is replicated. I liked the messenger running up to you

and giving you an invitation to the Colosseum.

 

I thought it would just be adding in new dialogue, a few scripts, more like a simulation than a full on thing, It should only act like an experience, trick you into believing that its real with the utmost simplicity.

Adding a few new buildings, scripts and so on. Mostly just combing a few mods, maybe It's more than that lol.
