Darrow82
It feels like the biggest roadblock in modding this game is the dearth of diagnostic tools for crashes. Feel free to correct any ignorance on this point, but there are not any good tools for end-users to accurately determine the source of any issues that might cause crashes when modding. This leaves the average mod user guessing and simply cutting anything that seems like it might be complex or even remotely relevant to something that happened during their most recent crash. Some might be saying, "Well, if it's so important, why don't you create this diagnostic solution?" Because I'm not a programmer. I can diagnose a problem, but that doesn't make me qualified to solve it. If this modding community is going to be effective, we need a decent diagnostic tool so users aren't running around pestering creators they merely think are responsible for their latest crash, or worse, simply abandoning mods or modding generally, because it becomes impossible to determine the sources/resolutions of mod conflicts. Or it might just be me...*&% if I know... Feels like what we do now is pray someone updates some mod and maybe that is the one thing that fixes all that ails us... BTW: this is not meant to sound ungrateful to the awesome creators out there. I'm merely pointing out that we need a good diagnostic tool to determine how/when/where crashes occur so that user complaints are properly directed. Granted, not all users would even use such tools, but at least we could then properly scold them for not doing so and ignore them appropriately.
