Thor.
Hello remember way back when there was a discussion thread about cold fusion and that its officially a reality, well apparently it's now on sale and if you guys have 1.5 million dollars to spare its yours. http://www.extremetech.com/extreme/171660-1-megawatt-cold-fusion-power-plant-now-available-yours-for-just-1-5-million If this becomes commercially available i can see this being the biggest leap in technology since the airplane or the car. http://www.extremetech.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/front2.jpgNuclear fusion what?? this technology was under heavy scrutiny do to the lack of paper work, but if one person buys it and dissects it, and it works. Well that may be the game changer  .Here is the old discussion thread for reference.http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/450795-cold-fusion-now-a-reality/page-6?hl=%2Bcold+%2Bfusion&do=findComment&comment=4657534 Edited November 27, 2013 by Thor. Vagrant0
Better question is... If they're able to fit it all into something the size of a shipping container, why aren't disaster relief organizations jumping all over this? A mobile power plant that runs on readily available materials (only hydrogen is the tricky part) that can produce more power than a Diesel generator should be something they would want to get their hands on. Nevermind the military as an alternative to the loud generators they use to power temporary encampments.
Thor.
Not to mention its cleaner than Nuclear fusion, and capable sustaining itself in room temperature. Easy to replicate, and be mobilized for emergencies. So why would they even bother with nuclear fusion when they have a cheaper cleaner alternative that in time could have the output of the most powerful nuclear plants in the future. in Stargate they call'em zero point one modules. Werne
If they're able to fit it all into something the size of a shipping container, why aren't disaster relief organizations jumping all over this?Because a diesel generator is cheap, diesel is common so it doesn't need ordering fuel in emergency cases (it can be scavenged from car fuel tanks and can also be supplemented with other flammable fluids if necessary). It's all about the necessity - they need a stable, robust power source that works when they need it, can be refueled easily, can be set-up by those who know little about the way it works, and can be fixed easily when it breaks, being inexpensive is a plus. Nickel and hydrogen need special delivery that may not be possible in locations that have been hit by a hurricane for example, I can imagine a CF generator to be a tad complicated to set-up and use, it's still not proven to be reliable (not in wide-spread use, not even commercially available at the moment), and I think it can't be fixed with duct tape and a pair of pliers once it breaks down. Same rule applies for the military, the army uses engines that can be fixed easily by non-techies (mechanics are not always available in a warzone), can use supplementary fuel, are easy to set-up and use, and they need to be robust. Anyone that has two brain cells to rub together will know how to start and use a diesel generator, those with an extra brain cell will also know the basics of how it works and can fix it. Put simply - you don't want to wait for 3 days to get a nickel/hydrogen/parts delivery or a guy that knows how to use/fix it (that's if those can be brought to your location) if you need the generator up and running right this instant cause people's lives are at stake. In those situations, simplicity = efficiency.
Thor.
They have small scale Ecats for home use that resemble gas generators. And its being made in the USA, so you cam grab one if you have the coin. http://www.buildtheenterprise.org/ecat-cold-fusion-reactor-update-now-made-in-usa and a interview talking about the skepticism he has been getting, he is legit in every way because of his honesty. here is the actual site that you can make a inquiry to purchase one :nuke: http://ecat.com/ And a interesting conference panel, explaining cold fusion.
