Nuke Armor recolored and redone

Anyone out there could do me a huge favor?

I wish to get this particular armor re textured and redone:

http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5943

Cept that I would like a black version or a darker gray colored of it (to look all stealthy). Also to remove the light bulbs.

I asked the original modder himself if he could do that for me, but he wasn't up for it. And I wish I can mod for ****, but I just don't have it in me.

Anyone who does this would be doing me a huge favor and would receive a 10 from me.

I just don't know the proper programs to do it, nor even have the slightest idea on how to do it once I find em. And I highly doubt anyone wants to donate their time in teaching me how.

and i don't know why he didn't want to do it either, just his decision I guess.

Well, I'm not a great texturer, but I'll tell you what I know. unless you have photoshop, you'll be wanting to dowwnload GIMP (here: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ ) After you have GIMP or photoshop, dowload this (for photoshop) http://developer.nvidia.com/object/photosh....html#downloads or this (for GIMP) http://nifelheim.dyndns.org/~cocidius/dds/ . These will allow you to edit .dds files, the file type for fallout 3 textures. Now, If what your downloading is from a mod*, you probably won't see any .bsa files, but if you do, you'll need this http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6289 to open it. Once you have the .dds file open in photoshop or GIMP, edit it. I'll warn you now, it looks just like a bunch of scattered pieces. Anyway, when your done editing it, save it as a .dds file, and if you didn't use the .bsa unpacker, put it back where you found it. if you did use it, then you'll have to take the file path (lets say you changed the knife texture, the file path would start with the unpacked folder, which is whatever you named it (should be textures) , then weapons, then 1handmelee. Whatever it is, go to the data folder, make a folder textures if there isn't one already, and, using the baseball bat example again, make another folder, weapons, then another, 1handmelee, and put the file in there. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE FILE IS IN THE CORRECT FOLDER AND ALSO HAS THE SAME NAME AS THE ORIGINAL FOLDER NO MATTER WHICH METHOD YOU USED. I say this in all caps, because any problems with the texture appearing in game can usually be traced to a problem with one of those steps. Anyway, once thats done, start the game, and you should see the new texture.

If you need any more help, or are unclear on something, just ask.

*EDIT: after looking at the file description, no, you would not need the bsa unpacker. However, it's still good to know if you ever want to edit a vanilla texture.
