surg23
Hmm, that's odd. If the car was not there in vanilla, but now appears upon using the house mod/other mod ?, I can only suspect that the car has been added or moved to that position through one of your mods. You could try just loading the offending esp into GECK (and nothing else) and select "set as active file" that means that any changes you make will effect and overwrite that particular file. It might be wise to back-up that file before tampering with it. However if you have installed that mod by form of FOMOD, you can simply deactivate it and reactivate it to restore the default esp. Hehe, poor Irish electrician. Sicker joke: Why does Santa have such a large sack ? .... He only comes once a year.
pawzseven
maybe I did something wrong and was looking at the .esm, not the.esp? When I clicked in the little boxes, nothing showed - but I think I saw reference to mini hideout in the window to the right. Maybe the file I activated was vanilla... I will go back and have another go. Why does Santa have such a large sack.... to put all the bodies of ..... in? I dunno, why DOES Santa have such a large sack....? Could FWE have moved the car there do you suppose? I have loaded some of the other mods you mentioned. The Texture one, one about Flora. One other you recommended I could not as it requires DLC to be installed, and I have not yet added Pitt, Anchorage, Broken Steel and Point Lookout. There is another add-on I do not have ( which I kinda wish i had got now as it looks interesting, but at the time seemed a bit weird). Zeta Mothership or something like that.Anyway, nuff from me. Will report back if I get any advance in GECK.
pawzseven
guess wot - I'm home! don't think it was anything I did though... I went back into GECK and activated just the .esp. Still had problems finding a shot of the car, but eventually found the right place after putting gas station 01 in the filter. Even then, the car was not shown covering the switch, which was clearly visible with the car parked beyond that. I moved the car to a further spot anyway, saved and came out. When I got into the game, the car was still in the wrong place and covering the switch. GGRRR. I could see the switch if I crouched and looked from the rear of the car, but could not activate it. Rats I said. I fired off a shot at the car, which promptly set it on fire, and then I hightailed it to Commander thingey's house to see what I could find in his armoury. I found a bomb and came back lickety-spit to sort the car out, and waddya know! It had MOVED. It was off the ramp bits and onto the road. The switch was in plain view and within seconds I was indoors. Ah, bliss....... .....he only comes once a year....... ( groan). surg23
Oh nice, you finally found your home! What a strange issue you had there. Speaking of Homes, I found the solution to all my problems, and that was to build my own home! I have been playing with this mod Real time Settlers, and oh boy is it awesome. Its so complex and the attention to detail is amazing. You can go around and make your own blueprints of any object in the game and then craft it providing you have the materials. It has tonnes of features that would take me all day to explain so I will just leave you with a link, in case you get curious. http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/7070/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D7070%26preview%3D&pUp=1 I've been running around trying to gather some useful building material and I found a nice place to start my settlement, a place with many cows! Well it may look weird right now, but this actually took me a while to build. http://i.imgur.com/eQpUzKq.jpg?1 But this mod is so awesome that i've been prancing about with glee for the last 4 hours. pawzseven
and there I was thinking you were having a bit of kip. Yes I have had a look at RTS, and it does look interesting. I have bookmarked it for further looking into. Probably too techy for me though... indeed I did have a strange event in that car moving all on its own. Can't explain that. I have found a few changes have been made to the hide-out - the fridge has gone, the fish-tank also. Maybe if I get better at this modding lark I might try and put the fish-tank and fridge back, but for now I am just pleased to know nothing can GET me once I am inside my little refuge. I guess I now have to build up my abilities by killing a good few raiders and wot-not. I made the mistake of taking a pot-shot at a mire-lurk while wandering, which prompty submerged and then came at me through the trees. I shot at it several times but it kept a-coming. Guess my effectiveness will improve with time. I'd be interested to see how your home comes along if you find the time...
surg23
If you haven't already I strongly recommend using that Iron-sights mod, that in conjunction with Bullet-time will make combat a lot more dynamic and fun. If you have left most FWE's settings at default and the game difficulty at hard or very hard, things will kill you pretty easily as you may have already found out. It's really tough early on in the game, but there's a great weapon you should look out for which is the FN P90c - This little gun is a beast at early levels and the ammo for it is relatively cheap. It good because it has awesome burst damage, the iron-sights are spot-on, and its got a mega 50 round clip and fast fire rate too. I strongly recommend taking the Ammunition Engineer perk early on, so that you may start crafting your own ammo. Breaking down shotgun shells is a good choice because it only takes 15 rounds per gunpowder. But don't break down .44 magnums, they are too precious. Also a good tactic is using the stealth field for sniping, providing you have a sniper'ish weapon. In FWE when you use a Stealth boy it won;t automatically consume, you can toggle it using the "X" key, so you can take a pot-shot from a distance then toggle your stealth-field on and off to lose aggro, giving you another chance for a sneak crit. Apologies if you know all this already, but I assume you have never played FWE before. Just tell me to shut up about it if you know already. Well I am off to my village, there is so much to do and I need sandbag walls for my settlers to hide behind before the next mutant attack eeeehheeee! Edit: - well if you use VATS then I guess you don't need to worry about what weapon or tactic to use. VATS ... *shudders* Edited November 30, 2013 by surg23
pawzseven
hee, thank you surg ( I can hear you grunting as you manhandle those sandbags). I will get the ironsights mod - I think I had it before and liked it. I have found a lot of old mods from 2009, which might be the last time I played F3, as I then switched to New Vegas also STALKER series, Silent Hunter and Egosofts X-series for a bit, not mention Oblivion, SkyRim, Sims3 etc etc! I think I have found the original mini Hideout mod, and the isolated shack I mentioned, where the crittur got me, but you probably don't want to know about that anymore.I downloaded the RTS files, except the Nexus MM could not get the last one down, for roads and walls I think, so I downloaded that manually - but what do I do with them - are they for the game itself or GECK?Anyway, hope you have a good play with your new toys  ps no I didn't know those details and tips - thanks :) Edited November 30, 2013 by pawzseven
surg23
Wow, I have all those games you just mentioned, absolutely love the STALKER games, and I was addicted to X3 for a few months, but as they say it is a game of menu's. Oh, and you are using the Nexus MM, yeah I tried that out long ago, but it didn't quite work out for me. I much prefer FOMM as it gives you ultimate control, but at any rate, Volume 4 of RTS is just an update more-or-less. You can just drop it in your data folder and activate it, though I wouldn't do that myself. What i did was download the main RTS archive extract it to a folder, then extract all the update volumes to the same folder and make it a complete FOMOD. Now, I have to fix a giant hole in my stairway lol. Edited November 30, 2013 by surg23
pawzseven
I have a lot to learn don't I! Well I think I am creeped out enough for tonight, having seen off a few molerats and snuk into Springvale school and bagged a few raiders. Enough excitement for me for now, will go and play some music instead. When I get back to it I am going to try the original mini hideout mod as this one does not have a fridge and the molerat machine doesn't work. I also no longer have a fast travel motorbike it seems, just get told I can't fast travel from that location even though no enemies are nearby, so I have disabled that mod in the hope I will be returned to vanilla fast travel. Haven't got the iron-sights yet, next time I am on the Nexus site I will download that.I have some files on FOMM I think, and others on NMM,does one counteract the other I wonder? Anyway, night-night - or, for you, mornin-mornin. Don't work too hard! PS, yes, I will do as you describe for the RTS; seems tidier that way. surg23
I don't think its a good idea to use both Managers, that might complicate things. FOMM handles mods for both FO3 and FNV, which is simple enough. Then you can use OBMM for Oblivion and TesMM for Skyrim. Or if you prefer just use the NMM if it works best for you. I failed to mention that the main RTS file is a FOMOD, so you can just drop that into your mods folder (or install with NMM) but then if you wish you can consolidate all the updates into a single FOMOD as mentioned above. Sorry to hear about your motorbike not working anymore, maybe you'll run into an Irish mechanic during your travels hehe.
