Nifskope 2.0 - Windows Install?

I'm trying to use BSA Browser. When I use Preview on a nif file, it launches Nifskope 1.0.19, which cannot read the nif file. Is there a Windows installer version of Nifskope 2.0 that I could install over the 1.0 version ?

Now, I have and use Nifskope 2.0. I tried changing the version launched with the "Open with" command from the contextual menu. There is no "error" during the process, but at the end, the 1.0 version is still launched.

Thanks!

I assume you did tell windows to always use the (new) "open with" app?

If so you can still change it under settings\Apps\Default apps

Search for .nif or go to "set default for file types" & then scroll to .nif.

Click it and choose your correct version of nifskope.

That should do it. Unless... the BSA extractor uses its own setting for what to launch to view .nif files... in which case you should check its settings\preferences\options menu.

It wouldn't surprise me, looking at the mod page for the BSA browser.

edit:

It isn't quite clear what it uses... there is a lot of talk about build-in viewers, but the changelog for ver. 1.99 does state:

"Added .NIF to previewing in default program"

Which means it should at least be possible to use whatever is associated with the .nif extension.

Even if I had forgotten the "always open", it still fails (silently) the first time I do it.

The Settings Dialog only allows to change between "registered" apps.

The Contextual Menu allows to add a new app.

BSA Browser does use the default app, which is the 1.0 version.

I had a similar issue when trying to switch from an older version of nifskope to 2.0 dev 7 last year and until i completely removed all traces of the old version i couldnt get the new version to load .

Personally i use Bethesda archive extractor and it works fine.....
