Darwinia demo released!

The darwinia demo was released a few days ago, you can get it on 3dgamers if you haven't already. I've played it a couple of times so I though I'd impress my opinion on all of you :P

 

It's basically an RTS, but with a fair few twists and gimmicks involved:

Darwinia is certainly a new approach to strategy, and from Introversion Software (creators of Uplink) I expected nothing else. The game relies heavily on mouse gestures, and has a very cool retro style to it, as well as inside-the-computer theming (you alt-tab to switch between squads ^_^). Personally, I enjoyed the demo but want much much more. I'm a little worried that after the first few missions the game will become samey and I'll get bored, but I'm hoping Introversion can pull through and create another hit.

I saw this in the last PCZone, but i didn't pick up on the Introversion/Uplink bit. I really enjoyed that game - it was low-budget but delivered a surprisingly good game, although it did get slightly repetitive after a while. But it stayed on my h/d long after most other high-budget trash is removed.

 

Darwinia looks interesting, i may go and download the file. I don't know how large it is though.

 

EDIT:- Hmm. Its only 11Mb. Fair enough, as long as it works...
