joshua121
I am very new to 3-d modeling, and I really don't know where to start. I am used to nifscope and photoshop, for retexturing vanilla items. However I would really like to start getting into creating my own items, armor, weapons, etc... But first I thought maybe I should try modifying existing weapons and armor before I try to make my own. So blender seems like a good place to start, I downloaded and installed Version 2.48a, Then I installed python version python 2.5, which Blender recognizes, Then I installed the .nif scripts into blender. However when i try to import .nif is not one of my options, and when I try to open a .nif file, I get a message "unknown file type or error" I have been searching all over for a tutorial or some kind of info on what I may be doing wrong. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate, because I am really tired of sifting through irrelevant information pertaining to the subject of .nifs and blender. There is a lot of it, and a lot of it is good, but this seems to be like searching for the proverbial needle in the giant pain in my ass haystack. Thanks. BadPenney
This is the first of a series of Blender tutorials that were recommended to me. There are links to more advanced topics on the page. The kid sounds like he is still in grammar school but he has a clear, easy to follow manner. You might find something in his tutorials that will help you. joshua121
thanks guys I really appreciate the reply's I'm sorry that I forgot to say thanks sooner., I actually broke down and got 3ds max instead of using blender anymore. Much easier for me and there seems to be a lot more instructional material.
