Tank0123 Posted November 29, 2013 Share Posted November 29, 2013 (edited) I decided to come back to Oblivion after a long hiatus and now it won't load at all. Well, I spent the past six hours fiddling with it, and managed to learn both how to successfully use TES4Edit (which I used to clean a number of my mods) as well as why my bashed patches weren't working.Anyway, I kept crashing at the loading screen before the Main Menu, so I began narrowing it down. Took me a couple hours (since there were several), but I thought I had the problem solved; two of my mods, Underdark and Black Marsh (both of which were relatively new in my mod list) were the culprits. I don't really care about them. Then I discovered that the crash was also caused by one of my beloved mods, Better Cities; I uninstalled and reinstalled the OMOD, but to no avail. I used BOSS to sort everything, and even had a Bashed Patch made (finally learned how to use it), but I still get crashes with Better Cities on.I refuse to play Oblivion without Better Cities. Call me spoiled. I don't care. I don't know what the problem is, please help. DrakeTheDragon Posted December 19, 2013 Share Posted December 19, 2013 Disregard the OBMM conflict detector. These aren't 'conflicts' in the sense of something causing trouble. Any 'replacer'-type mod coming with replacement files will cause a 'conflict' with the files it replaces. But that's "working as intended" and far from anything malicious or dangerous as 'conflict' makes it sound. What's this "Better Cities .esp" up top (The one with the blank before the file extension)? You already have "Better Cities Full.esp", "Better Imperial City.esp" and all the patches further down. I can't even imagine what this mal-named ESP could've been before. Filenames of plugins are critical. Mod interdependency is governed by filename alone. A simple typo in a plugin's filename and your game will crash when another plugin requires it but can't find it. The good thing is, most of the patches are far down, 'after' the files they depend on. The bad thing is, there are a lot of patches for compatibility with mods the abbreviations of which are yet unknown to me and I can't see if those mods even are inside your load order. 'Cause if they aren't, that will kill you. And olha2's right. An export from Wrye Bash will include quite a list of mistakes and errors, if there are such.
