Adding ears with CS

I loaded the custom race .esp into the CS, set as active file, selected the race from the Character drop down menu, click Face Data tab, and set the pathway to the ear.nif file in the two Ears slots.

Is this right?

Then the readme says to "choose the appropriate texture for your race from the textures\characters\earrings folder"....."the ears will color match to your character's skin".

How do I do this?

Thanks!

OK, time out!

I don't think I have to set the texture - I just went in-game and took the WIG off my character and I can see the ears now - they look to have the same texture as my skin.

So now my question is how do I get these ears on the wigs - do I have to add them to every wig as I did to my character?

thanks....

EDIT - I just want to know if its possible to add one of Kafei's multi-pierced ears to Apachii's wig from the Goddess shop.

I'm taking a guess at this. Usually if the ears disappear when the wig is added, it's because the wig is using the ear slot. If this is the case then the answer would be no. It's either the wig or the ears.

This is a suggestion, and I don't know if it will work. If I was stuck with this dilemma. I would open Characters in the CS, go into Races, click onto the race I'm playing. There is a tab called Body Data. This is where you can change there NIF and DDS for their faces. I would replace the Lower Teeth and put the ears in there place. I have done this with my Eyelash mod and it worked for that. It might work for what you want to do.

Feel free to PM me if this isn't clear. I'm not very good at explaining things.

if you want the ears showing with your wig heres the most simple way just go to the item in the cs and change its slot XD unless of course the wig is designed in a way that its not suppose to show ears <.< :edit oh and to add ears acturally to the wig itself you would need to use blender i believe to make the ears part of the wig

OK I'm starting to use the CS.

I had added ears to one of my custom race characters as per the mod readme and it worked perfect. I had the long elf ears I wanted and they were the same texture as the body.

But when I went into the CS and put the nif file path in the teeth slots, it did not work - I had no ears.

I had saved a backup of the working added-ears-race.esp (I already had a backup of the original custom race.esp) and so I thought no problem I'll just put back the added-ears-race.esp.

This did not work. I had ears but they were Dunmer color.

So I thought no problem. I'll just put back the original custom race.esp and add the ears just as I did before.

This did not work. I have no ears. Tried again the same way I did originally - did not work. No ears.

So what happened? There must be some hidden stuff the CS is doing or maybe I need to use some utility like Wry Bash or BOSS or something?

thx

EDIT: works now, was using a \Earring texture path instead of the race\ears path.

thx!
