Rusey
Hey all. Spent a lot of time putting together an immersion playthrough for myself and decided to turn it into a guide for people who are maybe intrigued by the playstyle but intimidated by modding. Finally got it up and running on my new blog. Skyrim for Noobs: Immersion Modding Guide The guidelines I used when putting this together were:Must be usable with any combination of Skyrim and DLCs;Must cover main immersion modsMust also represent optional, but popular, categories like world texture packs and character creation modsMods must be highly polished and impactful to avoid overwhelming user (IE, floral overhaul yes, prettier bottle label textures no) If it looks long, that's because I skip no steps. It covers everything from downloading to installing to setting them up in-game (where applicable). Hopefully it helps some people and I'd love feedback. Especially let me know if you check it out and notice mistakes or typos! Site's still under construction so ignore random colour changes for now lol. And if you wonder what your game will look like when you're done, here's a small gallery. I use these mods for my playthrough as well. :) Edited December 4, 2013 by Redlost
MorielAtta
Thank you! I'm replaying Morrowind at the moment, but after that I am going to have another go at Skyrim - my first playthough was right after it came out, so there were almost no mods. Having a nice concise guide like this wil help me greatly in setting my new Skyrim game.
ItsScootsMcBoots
Gopher did a video tutorial series on modding for beginners, including immersion mods. I don't know how much traffic you'll get for this, unfortunately, but kudos on putting it together regardless. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE7DlYarj-DdhDG41roBVJfNCqvO5MmKP

My spouse is all about video tutorials while I much prefer reading, so I think there's definitely a niche to be served :)
MorielAtta
I'm with you Redlost - text is much preferable to video in my opinion. I can easily scan a piece of text to see if it contains anything interesting to me, whereas a video has to be watched in it's entirety before I can know whether or not it has anything useful to me. I also usually have music playing on my computer, so watching a video means I have to stop the music or else listen to a cacaphony of conflicting sounds that become unintelligible. Yay text! BCbrad
I like it, but what to do if you don't want to start a new character? I recently did a fresh install an more or less followed the steps without know this post existed. I have added few other mods like player head tracking, temptress race (the existing character) and a few other armor and player/npc beautification mods. I ctd on every fast travel or after about 2 minutes of play. Frustrating!
Prosercunus
Thanks for this topic. I wouldn't call myself a complete noob (I have used and played with a lot of these mods) but it has been quite awhile since I played or modded skyrim and have had a fresh install/computer since that point. This guide helped me remember a lot of mods I used and loved without having to browse Nexus. Appreciate it.

I can't promise anything but if you wanna list everything else you're using I can try to take a look and see if anything screams conflict. Off the top of my head I can't think of any problems a custom race would cause with these mods though. It could be the NPC mods conflicting with Amazing Follower Tweaks (though one of the reasons I picked AFT is it's less likely to cause conflicts). You might also want to check out the STEP project's clean save procedure here. It's a hefty undertaking though. Thanks for this topic. And on that note, if anybody wondered what the game looks like VISUALLY if you install what I suggested, I put up a small gallery. BCbrad
I am doing a clean install again. But slower... I will put more time into it and test each mod. I was crashing a lot prior but I was running about 90 mods but probably had 150 deactiveated. Almost two years of mods. I will be selective this time around and look for stablity before moving on. Rusey
Yeah, I did quite a bit of testing weeding stuff out myself. With a couple of additions I use this modlist myself so it should be stable. :) It's a pain because it usually takes me at least a week when I start playing Elder Scrolls games again to get a working, stable modlist that I'm satisfied with and then start a game "for real." The custom race you want shouldn't be a problem, though I haven't used one myself. I like playing orc ladies :P
