Uberman77883
Hurf derf, I have made plenty of mods for other games before, so I know how to do things. I am not familiar with Fallout 3's way of doing things.
jackpack
goto the download section & look for new lands. id sugest downloading "crapton" once youv done that. merge it & open it up & then delate everything thats in that worldspace & start building your own town  you also want to rename it to what you want it to be called. BadPenney
Or you could open the GECK program, load only Fallout3.esm as data so that you can start a new .esp. Then pulldown the "World" menu tab ( 4th selection from the upper left ), choose Worldspaces... ( 4th down) and then right click on the list of existing worldspaces on the left side of the window and choose "New". Name it and start from scratch. Learn to love the terrain editor, it will be flat and featureless. You can choose a parent worldspace like Wasteland if you want. Copying someone else's mod and deleting stuff is always an option, maybe quicker and easier but maybe less unique and interesting too. Could be a good way to start, if you are unfamiliar with FO3 or Oblivion land creation.
Skree000
Or you can do your terrain in another program and import it as a mesh photographic sattelite heightmaps applied to a subdivided plane as a displacement map, export that mesh and bring into Geck. prest-o! i havent done terrain yet in geck but ive done lots of terrain in other programs and editors and its pretty universal once you know which tool does what function in which particular editor. If gecks terrain is managed like any other editor or program it generates a heightmap as you paint or deform, so im guessing theres probably a way of just telling the terrain to reference a premade heightmap in photoshop or as previously mentioned, a sat image heightmap. I think the Vegas mod project is doing that...,
Yossarian22
there is a heightmap editor, but it only works sometimes. It creates holes into the landscape surface and also it creates more chucks than neededso LOD Generation takes more time.
