Porting a NV bolt action rifle to Fallout 3

Hello everyone,

Well first of all I'm not sure I'm in the right forum, since it concerns New Vegas as well as Fallout 3, so I just wanted to apologize if someone, somehow, was to find this inappropriate... I'm more likely to find an answer here though.

Anyway, here's my issue. Most modders work on New Vegas these days, and they rarely port their mods to New Vegas' big brother, Fallout 3, which is a shame considering the tremendous amount of excellent work which is frequently released for NV. Among other things, FO3 nexus' weaponry is considerably poorer than that of NV nexus. On that regard, recently, I remarked a couple WW2 bolt action rifles -namely, kar98k, arisaka, lee enfield and mosin-nagant. As a history lover I HAD to have it.

The point is, I'd like to get NV's superior quality in the Capital Wasteland as well. Bashing Caesar's freaks with a Mauser is fun to some extent but it cannot compete with a Super Mutant Behemoth safari, and I'd like to get something better than a mere retextured hunting rifle to fulfill my murderous instincts. How about looking for that on FO3 nexus then ? Well I wouldn't be here in the first place is there was such a thing there. Actually there are a couple bolt action rifles, but frankly enough, they are of poor quality compared to their NV counterparts.

Thus, I simply tried to use models from NV mods in Fallout 3.

I assumed bolt action rifle models were usable in both Fallout 3 and NV, because both games use the same animation for their bolt action hunting rifles. (In the same way, for instance, there are many revolvers out there you can use in NV as well as in Fallout 3 as their reloading animation was left unchanged in NV.) It seems not to be the case, though, as setting your models to use the regular Fallout 3 hunting rifle animation in the GECK has no effect : the bolt remains static upon reloading, which seems to indicate that this is related to the model itself. (It's pretty hard to explain in english, I apologize for that, it is not my native tongue.)

Hence the question : is there a way I could get these models to actually use FO3's hunting rifle reloading animation ? The best I can do about models is tweaking them with NifSkope.

Thank you in advance !

I know the answer to your question, but because of this thread: Porting Content Between Games, helping you would get me banned, as well as you. Just a friendly reminder, I've had my ass handed to me by the site owner himself over this issue before.

By the by, you could've fooled me that you were not English, your English is superior to 90% of the site users.

Oh well, I understand. I thought it was only forbidden to release ported content, and that it was safe to ask for advices as long as I only did it for myself, since I own both games and these models are not even Bethesda's creation. Thank you for answering anyway, and for your kind comment on my language.
