multiple interior cells in a esp file?

In Fallout 3, I built a basic interior room to be used in a multiple floor esp (think of a hotel with an elevator and mutliple floors). I copied a original game interior and renamed and emptied it, building from scratch with a kit. After saving the esp and coc testing this room in-game, I reloaded the GECK with this esp as the active file. I copied and renamed the interior cell as a second cell, and did some minor changes to this second room. (The idea here was to join the two interior cells with transport doors). But the GECK also changed the room i copied from. Also I can't seem to delete this second interior cell now; in the cell view window, the second cell name remains without any objects on the right, and nothing appears in the render window; the objects only deleted. I've tried deleting the second cell and saving the esp and unloading/reloading the GECK several times, with the same result.

The only objects in the rooms were the kit wall/floor/ceiling combos, windows, a single static door, and the coc marker. The second room didn't even have a static door object yet. No links between the cells had been done yet.

Of course this is my first mod. I've read the GECK layout tutorials, but they concentrate on a single interior cell layout only, and don't tutor on multiple cells.

How do you build an esp with multiple, different interior cells? Also how can you import data from one cell in an esp to another; I guess I'm really asking here ; how did changing the second separate cell objects, end up changing the copied cell as well?

Thanks.
