GrandBulwark Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Given the recent influx of users in the chat room with inquiries about the Nexus Mod Manager and it's current offline only capabilities. I thought I would make a short, easy guide to save myself and others time. Mind you, this is not going to be thorough and I will not visit this thread again after it's done. Comments should be directed at me in a PM or via my http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32363'>Skyrim Guide. That said it is VERY simple. Step 1: Open NMM.Step 2: Select Offline Mode at the login prompt or error message. You don NOT need to sign in, just click offline.Step 3: Select a mod on the Nexus that you would like to add. Making sure it's the NMM compatible version if applicable.Step 4: Download the mod manually, NOT via the "Download with Manager" buttonStep 5: Select the Mods tab on NMM's inferfaceStep 6: Open your "Downloads" folder and find the archive that corresponds to your mod (Do NOT extract it)Step 7: Drag and drop said Archive to the NMM mods tab.Step 8: Once the addition is complete, the mod will appear in the categorized list in the "Mods" tab. Double click it, or highlight it and select activate on the left.Step 9: Organize you plugins in the plugin's tab, or more Traditionally done with http://boss-developers.github.io/'>BOSSStep 10: Play the game Notes: This will not make Archive incompatible with NMM compatible, you have to do that manually. Also note, this is essentially the same route as "Download with manager". Any automated install scripts will run via NMM, just as they would had you downloaded with the manager itself. There is no downside, it's not dangerous and it's still free! :D Enjoy  Best Regards to the Community,GrandBulwark Edited December 6, 2013 by GrandBulwark
bben46 Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Add - You do not have to sign in to use offline mode. Just click on offline.
GoblinToe Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Just checking in case I'm missing something, but how do we manually download a file larger than 2 megs with the errors logging into the Nexus? At least I've been unable to login to the site for about 4 days now, maybe not everyone is having that problem. Thanks a lot, and good luck with the troubleshooting!
GrandBulwark Posted December 7, 2013 Author Posted December 7, 2013 NP, on that one I'll refer you to the contact us button on the bottom of the screen on every page. Dark0ne is more qualified than I to explain/troubleshoot site related issues. I will not speculate any further on the subject, because honestly I have no idea. That is not something that is frequently asked, nor something I've experienced personally.
darkwolf117 Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 So your saying I cant download with the nexus and Have to do it manually!
darkwolf117 Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Like I cant Download with the manager anymore?I have to do it manually!
Trassel Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 Thanks a LOT for this great and helpful guide for newbies to the wonderful world of modding such as myself. I thought I wouldn't be able to install any mods at all until the NMM was back up again, but this seems to work, thanks again!

In some weird case, Yesteday Nexusmods site works with internet explorer 11 but not with Chrome. Not it works on Chrome for some mods, but not all (which run on IE). Maybe try a different browser?
GoblinToe Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 For those having trouble logging into the Nexus website, this is how I solved it: 1) Go to the Nexus homepage, and attempt to download the latest version of Nexus Mod Manager. 2) It will ask you to log in first, which will fail, so select the option to RECOVER your forgotten password. 3) Change your password by following the instructions. 4) BAM. Was able to finally log in using my new password. Hope this helps!
