Trouble with GECK Vs TES

So I have some problems as I start my new Fallout quest mod. First off, I spent two years in Oblivion making a quest mod, so I know my way around that. However, I'm really hitting some brick walls with the new editor and engine:

 

1) I have an NPC set up with a package to make him walk to a waypoint. I set it up pretty much like Oblivion, with a variable as a condition in a travel package. I then "EVP" the NPC... and nothing happens. He doesn't move. He has a nav mesh and the variable is set correctly, but he does nothing. Anyone have an ideas?

 

2) The Show command was my best friend in oblivion. I used the following syntax in my Oblivion mod: "Show HOD02.SomeVariable" where "HOD02" was the name of the quest, and SomeVariable was the name of the variable. Easy, right? Except now in F3 I have to use the 8 number ID to reference the quest name. Instead of SF01, I now have to say "08002340". Is there anyway for me to reference the actually quest ID name again?

 

These are the two big ones right now. Any help?
