David Brasher
My mod has lots of topics and I need more. The primary quest got glitchy when I got 49 topics in it. NPCs would no longer talk about the new topics I added to them. Can a quest only have 49 topics? Or do I have a problem elsewhere and this could not possibly be my problem? (My quest is getting unwieldy anyway. I am planning on starting a new quest. I just don't want to have to re-enter lots of data. The "move to quest function" is inopperative on my system for some reason. I can move topics, but then they never function again.)

I would suggest trying to generalize as many of them as you can, such as using generic choice topics; "yes", "no", "go on", "nevermind", "go to hell buddy", ect, instead of some lengthy "yes, I will find your cat." or "No, I don't think I like that idea, but probably come back later when I'm bored out of my mind and looking for something to do." Or, using more generic topic starters for those that are asking similar things. This may ruin your whole immersion thing of "the character saying everything that would be said", but sometimes there are few other options. If you have topics that have a single response choice, you can sometimes just assume that the person playing is already thinking the same thing, and continuing the dialogue from there without forcing them to say that thing. Afterall, not all communication is voiced. It may even be that there is a limit to the number of topics which are even available within any branch of the dialogue. Regardless, you may be forced to just redo large portions of your dialogue. Any time something becomes particularly unwieldy, it's usually a good sign that you're trying to complicate it too much.
