I have been a troubleshooter for over 40 years. In that time I have lost count of how many times I have heard something like this.

"don't give advice that a simple newbie would do in modding,"

And I have lost count of how many times it turned out to be something simple they overlooked because it was 'only something a n00b would do' :whistling:

If you have tried everything and it still dosn't work, then you haven't tried everything. :wallbash: Go back through and look at everything, no matter how simple or obvious it seems. I traveled 600 miles to plug a machine in once because the Chief Engineer on the site had tried everything and it still didn't work.

Have you ever noticed, It's always the last thing you try that works.

Yes, I have done everything. I have even searched up tutorials on how to mod it properly and still nothing, there is absolutely no reason why the mods should not work

I got all the updates, installed correctly, tried OBSE, and the OBMM, nothing works I know I have not made any mistakes installing the mods >_<

Obviously you have. List all the mods you have installed and a load order, that will give me?us a better idea of what may be wrong!

you are putting the mods in "your" game data folder and not the master data folder?

Dev-Akim's tutorial is great, but if you want an even simpler one,I have a set of help files for people new to mods and computers. They include downloading, extracting (unzipping) installing and activating mods. I have included a sample mod to practice on and instructions for installing and using 7-zip. If you are interested, click on the highlighted link below to be taken to the site where they are kept. I recommend starting with #1 and working your way through them.

The sample mod is as simple as I could make it. NO textures, meshes or dependencies. It works unpatched and without OBSE or any thing else. It has been tested in XP, Vista and Win7. It has worked on every version of Oblivion I have tried it on.

The only purpose of this mod is troubleshooting and teaching how to install simple mods. It consists of one small esp file. And it should not matter where it is placed in the load order. However, for troubleshooting, if you use OBMM, place it last if you have any other mods in the list.

This mod does not do anything except add a standard dagger in a new easy to find place in the market district, and includes a picture of it in the description. Removing the esp completely removes the mod.

If I ever get around to updating it, I plan to add a simple object to the cell at the very beginning so it can be used when you start a new game. (future)
