after i finished the quest when you must defeat Potema's remains, solitude became bugged. NPCs and the player are falling below the ground that supposed to be solid. the ground affected by this bug is from the entrance to the market place. it does not reach the imperial headquarters and the blue palace. the ground of solitude became invisible. i already disabled all mods to see if one of my mods are affecting this bug but nothing is found. it is now affecting my save game.. PLEASE HELP ME..!!!

Is it still gone when you restart the game ???

Do you have any mod conflicts (use boss to find out)

you have some kind of missing texture problem, Did you try a file validation through steam to see if you accidently deleted some of the textures.

Boss should also tell you if something went wrong and give an error report.

thank you for the reply thomriis..

yes, it is still gone when i restarted the game. i also tried reloading save games and finishing the quest but it still persists. i also tried to load an earlier save game with the quest unfinished and using console commands to directly go to solitude. to my surprise, the bug is already there. ive done than this a lot of times but still the bug is not removed.

however, i created a new game. then, using the console commands, i immediately go to solitude.. however, there is no bug in solitude.. the new game also has the same set of mods activated.

i already tried reinstalling the game and load my save game with bug.. but, the bug is persisting.

i already used boss to determine conflicts but i only receive dirty edits. i dont clean the mods since i dont really understand what and how to clean mods..

it is like the bug is clinging to my save game and there is nothing i could do

Do you have a steam account ??

Even if you have the retail version of Skyrim you can still use Steam to verify your cache.

Right click on Skyrim in steam , Select properties , Go to the local files tab , Select the verify integrity button , It might take a little while but Steam will redownload and install missing files if there are any.

Allright a few tips, use the unofficial patches , use skse together with your mod manager , use tes5edit and believe me when i say that this program will make your game stable.

TES5EDIT JUST DO THIS AUTOMATED CLEANING (ITS NOT SO COMPLICATED AS YOU THINK)

download latest version of tes5edit and place it anywhere you want (maybe in your skyrim folder for eases sake, make a shortcut to your desktop)

open tes5edit and it will load all your plugins, right click on an empty space and select none to disable all of them (its just a precaution)

1. start of with these 4 plugins Update , Dawnguard , Hearthfire , Dragonborn (Dont do anything to the unofficial patches)

Check update and hit ok (everything that this plugin is dependant on will load with it SO DONT BE CONFUSED)

Highlight update,Right click it and choose apply filter for cleaning it will take a few seconds so be patient , Next right click update and choose remove "Identical to master" Records a message will pop up with a warning, Dont worry just click on "yes im sure", Last right click it again and choose undelete and disable references AND YOURE DONE, Close the window and it will prompt you to save your progress click ok,

Follow these steps for Update , Dawnguard , Hearthfire , Dragonborn and every other plugin that has dirty edits in your boss log.

SIMPLE RIGHT. good luck and happy gaming

your save must be corrupted,And the horrible truth is that theres no way to fix it once its corrupted.

The best way would be to start a new game or reinstall Skyrim, If you choose to do so remember to disable all your mods and dont enable them until youre out of helgen.

When youre out of helgen make a solid save with your mods disabled,Turn off autosave and travel to Solitude (Always have at least 8-10 saves so that you have something to revert to)

Make a new save slot in Solitude and try enable your mods one by one to lure out the bug, If/when it shows up quit your game without saving (of course) uncheck/uninstall it or check the authors page for compability issues heck maybe he even made a patch for it who knows??

After the evil has being cleansed you can safely turn on autosave again, but remember ALWAYS have a good backup of solid saves,A corrupted autosave that overwrites itself will only get more twisted The bug will copy copy copy (youll get the picture right??)

I cant fix it for you but i can still check them for you go into Documents/My games/Skyrim/Saves and copy the files to a new folder, Upload them to [email protected] no nudity please (just kidding) i love nudity

here is the new information..

after all thought on how to solve this issue, i have eventually fixed the bug...

i once again tried to deactivate all mods including the patches and the dlc's to find out if certain plugin/s are responsible for this bug..

and i found out that, with the plugins deactivated, the bug was removed. when i fast traveled to solitude, the bug was there. but when i reentered solitude, the bug disappeared.

so i tried to activate my mods one by one in order to find the one responsible for this bug. and i found out that Jobs of Skyrim is the culprit..

i don't know why and how it destroyed my game. i dont know if it has conflicts with other mods, dlc's, patches, etc. it is also worth considering that Jobs of Skyrim is an outdated mod and maybe because of it, it arises to certain bugs like this one. or maybe i have done something wrong which i do not know. however, i already used this bug for many months now and i did not find something wrong until this.

i nearly lost my appetite to play Skyrim, so i would like to thank thomriis for helping me. his tips are also easy to understand for noobs like me ^_^

i will personally use his tips for future encounters on bugs...

  • 3 months later...

I never installed jobs of skyrim but I am having the same exact issue. The ground was here when I entered Solitude, however it disappeared after I visited the blue palace and accepted the wolf-skull cave quest. Other things I could mention, I also presented the outfit for Radiant Raiment, and accepted the "Lights Out" quest, and was in solitude working on the thieves guild quest where I talk to Galum.

If I enter the front door of Solitude, the ground is there, but it seems to disappear when I load the cell from the Blue Palace.
