So, TIL about the "triangle of death," and have a sad :D

Recently learned of mod collections and figured I'd see if I could, finally, have a freaking working, modded Fallout4.

Best laid plans and all...

Back in the day, I varied between 180~250 or so mods - I was trying to be reasonable, right? And, of course, things never fully worked. Oh, I had a *mostly* working mod setup. No floating ! balls / triangles or whatever, and only a handful of items missing their textures / geometry... one or two purple-skinned things...

But yeah, never really worked and LOTS of CTD's. Followed guide after guide. FO4Edit, LOOT. Nexus Mod Manager, then Vortex.

So yeah, learned of collections, and just to see what would happen, picked the biggest / most popular I could find here, StoryWealth. Which, to be sure it is said, is a mostly working mod list and mad props to his work. I still have some issues, but nothing like my own prior self-created ones :D

Played around for, oh, 8-9 hours thus far. Just one CTD (and not even near said "triangle of death," I was somewhere under the gunner highways south of Sanctuary), but lots of weird audio issues. Also noticed it lacked some old must-haves, which surprised me. So I went looking for mods that had those old must-haves, namely: Scrap Everything, Bullet-Time, CBBE, and Sim Settlements.

Turns out, many of my problems likely were caused by Scrap Everything. Not all, but a lot of the CTD's I would imagine.

And I just... I can't play with Sanctuary looking that god-awful. Tons of stuff you can't remove that just clips into and looks terrible if you place something there. And the seeming alternatives are to make Sanctuary still pre-war, which is terrible for other reasons - I want it somewhat lore-friendly, I just want to remove all the excess shrubbery and weeds and those bits of fence that are *just* outside of the build area.

Also, no collections I have yet found seem to include bullet-time either. VATS is cool, but has its limits and the quests love to script you into fights where you start standing in an open space directly in front of multiple bad-guys with zero nearby cover. I don't want to see myself get shot 19 times , ignoring such while gunning down Kellog (even if the game mechanics mean I take like 3% damage from that) :D

None of this is a complaint or anything, just sad / funny :D

Greetings,

Though not as thorough and deep cleaning as Scrap Everything, the combination of Clean My Settlement Redux, Raze My Settlement, and Remove Ugly Flat Trash (and its optional add-ons) has done wonders for me. Best of all is that they don't break pre-combines the way Scrap Everything does.

Hope that helps.
