Gaikotsu Akunin
Just say I downloaded a mod, and the body has textures I want for another character. Can I just throw the textures up on the other character? I downloaded TES but I just started this, in which the only thing I know is to switch eyes. Any step by step tutorials out there? I've tried TES wiki and all that, but it just gives me how to texture objects in world, and creating new races. Doesn't go into detail about the textures themselves. I would ask the same of how to swap meshes too, but I want to take one thing at a time, and not ask for so much for those who are busy. :thanks:
BossDweebe
I'll start with the simple in case you don't know.I am not quite clear on whether you are speaking of "Character" or NPC.All Characters, as in player characters, that are not vanilla are new races, except for companions that are built off an existing race. To make all NPC's of a certain race have a new texture you just make a folder withthe name of that race and put the texture in there. Textures/Characters/ (for example) Nord.No esp is required as you are only doing a replacement. If you want a companion with it's own textures the process is the same, but you need the additionof an esp for that companion (if you are not changing one you already have). Then archive invalidate via OBMM, or whatever other method you may use. To do a specific NPC you would have to make the body texture part of a set of clothes. You will first have to create this in NifScope. It is only a matter of selecting clothes that havethe body mesh included, as most do these days, and changing the texture path on the bodyportion to the texture you want. Then save as a new clothing item. You then have to add thisclothing item to your character with CS.
Gaikotsu Akunin
I was talking about character, but I shall take this into consideration and add it to my notes :)
BossDweebe
Elaborate on Character for me. What is the other character ? Your player character ?If so what is your player based on ?If it is based on a vanilla race then you only need to do what I saidin relation to race, but all the NPC's of that race will have the same texture. Or are you trying to create a new player character in CS ? If so then you have to makea new race. That can still be just one Character. This will be based on the textures you put in a folder you make in the Textures/Characters Using a different mesh is problematic, but there is a mod or two that makes it possible to usea different mesh for your character from the default mesh that you use for the NPC's
dezdimona
if you've added a body mod, then all male or female bodies will use said mod! if your talking about tattoos then all bodies are based on Imperial vanilla and you would need to know which specific texture usually Foot .dds to trans it! Gaikotsu Akunin
I want to get this guys texture: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/images/1...-1203664529.jpg On to Slof's Xivilai (since the demon uses the same Xi mesh I would think swapping the texture would be easier). Getting the head too would be a plus because it comes with a cool goatee. The reason i decide to do this is because when you download this demon guy, the eyes are messed up when you pick/play him. And I'm pretty sure anything would work on Xi hence all of Slof's races/mods are rock solid. I've been anxious to play as Azazel since this mod came out but havn't found anything/anyone to fix it. I have reinstalled Oblivion multiple times to get his eyes to work (Vanilla, CM, then the mod) but to no avail. I've even tried contacting the creator, thus I only recieve ignore. BossDweebe
OK Easy just find the folder with Slof's Xivilai. Textures/CharactersShe often uses - as - for her folders. Then replace the texture she has with the one you want. So I assume her Xivilai is called - asXivilai. For example her Devil Companion - Characters/as1eye/male the footmale textures go here.Of course the textures you are using must be based on Roberts male body. EDIT: Slof used to use the vanilla textures with her mods, and some have both vanilla and Robert. So use what is appropriate for your situation. EDIT Again: Just noticed your post. Nope - don't have any of those acronyms. Just the nexus and Thunderbird.
Gaikotsu Akunin
Ok so this Azazel companion/race doesn't have any footmale or anything. I'm looking in the texture folder and I'm guessing demonbody and demonbody_n are the ones I want to paste over Xi.....
BossDweebe
That would probably be correct. The naming convention can bechanged in the case of new races as the esp points to that name.If you have a dds viewer just have a look at the file in question andsee if it is the same body layout as the one you want to replace it with. They have to be the same or the texture will get scrambled on the mesh. If you don't have a dds viewer - get one. Photoshop and the Gimp will do, but take a little time to load. I use the WTV viewer. EDIT: It is better to save your original files to a new folder (call it what you like), and copy the newones into place. Then rename them to the name of the original. This makes it easierto roll back if you have to.
Gaikotsu Akunin
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/1465/44679713.jpg Looks like the textures aren't set up the same in which the demon has a bigger wrap
