TaeRai
I decided to try and use some mod resources today but am very confused on why some are showing up as purple. I understand this is missing textures, but I don't know how to import them in the CK. I have searched on Goggle as well as the mod page itself, but it seems I am simply a n00b and don't understand. The textures are in my texture folder of my Skyrim/Data folder but from there I am lost. Can someone give me some help here? I am trying to use the OpenBook Resource (here) as well as a few other of his packs.
DrakeTheDragon
Depending on the type of object textures often are referenced from within the NIF itself, and they have to be exactly where the NIF is setup to search for them, or the NIF itself has to be modified (e.g. with NifSkope) to search for them where they actually are. When you install this resource and leave all files where they are, provided the resource was packaged correctly, then they should already work from the start. If they don't, then the resource is packaged in a way which puts the textures at a different location than the NIFs are setup to search for them, and this means you have to fix it youself. TaeRai
Alright, so should I just redownload them? I did some fiddling following a very brief tutorial and placed the meshes and textures seperately... Bah, this is confusing.
DrakeTheDragon
Well, I don't possess Skyrim myself and don't know much about its modding, but I downloaded this resource and gave it a look, and it looks like it should work fine the way it is. Put the "meshes" folder and the "textures" folder into your Skyrim's "Data" folder, allow it to overwrite or better yet "merge" when it asks (folders usually merge by default, even if the option is called differently), and then you can put the meshes ingame as usual and they should find their textures all fine. Just don't ask me 'how' you put these ingame. That's some Skyrim and CK internals I don't know. I wasn't able to take a look into the actual NIFs yet, though. I'm still lacking a working install of NifSkope on my current machine. But as simple and straight-forward as the packaging is, I highly doubt the file paths to the textures setup in the NIFs are different or wrong. Will check as soon as I can though, if there're still issues even with everything at its place. Edited December 15, 2013 by DrakeTheDragon
