Kryptgrind
Okay so apparently people in charge are having a hard time reading, but let me say it CLEARLY. I OWN A BOUGHT COPY OF OBLIVION FOR THE PC. No sense in not reading and locking threads. Anyways, /vent over Topic closed as leading to discussions of piracy. First, Do you have a legal copy? Downloaded pirate copies are notorious for having problems, and some install viruses and spyware. Buy the disk. It's less than US$20 now and makes it much easier to install and reinstall when you have to. Second, DO NOT ask for pirated materials on this site as it will get you banned. If you do have a legal copy, more info may be needed. Such as about your system, It may not be up to running Oblivion. Start a new topic and Post a list of your system components. Bben46, Moderator My computer is definitely up to running Obvilion, I think. Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2160 @ 1.80 GHz 2gigs of ram My display drivers are standard with what I got, which is a compaq. Kryptgrind
what is your graphics card? (go to start>run> and type in dxdiag. it's under the display tab) Here's a pic of that window: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/1479/cndjtj.jpg EDIT: Additional information, I am using a Desktop, not a laptop. The video card is built onto the motherboard, I think.
Oruboris
Sorry, but nothing in your initial post indicated that this was a legal copy, and you specifically asked for a download off the 'wild internets'. Boards like this need to be careful NOT to become conduits for piracy or we do a lot of damage to the games we love. 286 megs of shared video and 2 gigs total should be fine [though you won't be running at max rez and detail], and IME bad pirate discs are common but bad purchased discs are pretty rare, though obviously can happen. Sounds like a problem with the install, I'd un-install and try again.

I've reinstalled several times now, with no change in results. 5th time, and it still tells me "A problem has caused Oblivion to stop working and will be shut down. Windows will close the window and notify you if a solution has been found." I mean, how vague can they be?

You have to buy a video card for your computer. Qwaxalot
gotxbrains
yeah, looks like your computer ISN'T up to par to run oblivion. A fairly good graphics card will cost a minimum of 50 dollars though, so it shouldn't be too bad :P (craigslist is your friend)
