devopsdinosaur
Installing BepInEx for Sun Haven On all operating systems, the first thing to do is to open up your Steam window: Right (ctrl on Mac) click Sun Haven, and Manage => Browse local files. This will open a file explorer / finder window to the directory where BepInEx must be extracted. Two main points before starting the official BepInEx guide: It is essential you download the 64bit version of BepInEx if you're on Windows. If you're on Mac you just download the "unix" version, as the guide suggests. I *highly* recommend you use the "stable" version of BepInEx, not the latest. I'm currently using 5.4.21. The 6.0x release is made for people who do fancier stuff than I ever do in my mods, and the developers of BepInEx freely admit that it has bugs. Read the official guide and follow the instructions carefully. The "game root" directory is the "Sun Haven" directory you just opened from Steam. Here is the official guide: https://docs.bepinex.dev/articles/user_guide/installation/index.html Make sure you extract the files such that all of them are even with the "Sun Haven_Data" directory, i.e. "BepInEx" dir is at the same level as "Sun Haven_Data" If there is any extract directory level in there then BepInEx will not be loaded. Mac users should note that (I think) there is a step where you need to modify the "run_bepinex.sh" script to point to the correct .app file for Sun Haven. Sorry, I don't have a Mac, so I have no way of testing this myself. At this point you should be able to just launch the game as normal (on Windows) or use the "run_bepinex.sh" shell script (double click or run from terminal) on Mac/Linux. Kill the game. If all went well then there should now be "plugins" and "config" dirs under the "BepInEx" directory. If not then go back over the guide and especially check to make sure you have the 64-bit BepInEx (or the unix version if on Mac) and try again. If you still have issues, check the comments below or post a new one if needed. At this point you have a "plugins" directory under "BepInEx", so you're ready to download and extract the mods from this site into that directory and play the game. BepInEx should detect and run all of the mods in that directory the next time the game launches. To make changes to the configuration just kill the game, open the ".cfg" files in the "config" directory with a text editor, save the changes, and restart the game. Edit: Additional MAC specific stuff thanks to pleasestopbotheringme: https://github.com/BepInEx/BepInEx/issues/537#issuecomment-1478694464 Post comments on this thread if you have issues. That's it for now. Good luck, and enjoy!dd Edited April 28, 2023 by devopsdinosaur
