XJDHDR
Can someone make a working compass you can hold in your hand? I recently downloaded a mod which removes certain HUD elements from the screen, including the compass. The compass is now only visible if you open your inventory (the reasoning being that you now have to physically take out the compass to see it). The problem now is having to open the invetory every time you want to know the direction you are going. If it is possible to make this compass, it should also use the weapon slot. The compass can only be used to check direction when you aren't fighting (or you could use the compass as a weak weapon). If it helps, I only require a working mesh and texture. I can do the rest of the work myself.
Jada1011
I have a Jack Sparrow compass a friend of mine made, but i have no skill with scripting yet to make it move. I personally would like one to point to your next quest point. I will get permission to share it, if you can script it. :D
ElderScrollsFan001
That would be a cool mod i can take pics of one for textures if someone can make a mesh for it
XJDHDR
Honestly, it's been so long since I requested this that, if I knew how to script it then, I've forgotten how to since. I actually have no idea how this could be implemented. Making the mesh and texture for the compass is the easy part. Making it point north will require script commands which I don't believe exist. NifSE is the only addon for Oblivion that I know of which can manipulate meshes but I don't think even it has the commands required to manipulate vertices or texture orientation. Additionally, it's owner hasn't, to my knowledge, been active in the community since late last year.
GreatLucifer
Why not make the compass and needle different meshes, so you can manipulate only the needle via script (which is easy enough; put a script on the (needle-less) compass to move the needle to his exact position, and freeze it's rotation)? Just in idea from the top of my head, but I'm quite sure it'd work with vanilla scripting...
