rmm200
.net is what is known as a "prerequisite" for Vortex. As long as the .net install completes without error, you should be GTG. Try the Vortex install again. It should not mention .net this time. Then just run Vortex.Come back if any problems.

Vortex says there's a problem with the masterlist and wants me to delete it.Does it mean to delete the folder named masterlist or the file inside also called masterlist? rmm200
Don't do anything for a bit. I just got the same message; normally means a server hiccup. Try again in a few minutes. Preparing Skyrim for modding - I will let someone else have a stab at that. I have not "Prepared skyrim for modding" in at least 5 years.Nothing should take hours; that preparation is no more than a minute or two. HellFreezer
What version of Windows do you have? 1ST thing I'd do if you haven't already is to make a complete backup of all your mods for all your games on a storage volume other than your system drive. If it's a removable device then eject it safely and store it somewhere safe. That's the only hardish part. As others said, uninstalling, installing, updating Vortex (or Steam) should not touch mods which should never be in the drive path/folder where Vortex is installed. All programs are Uninstalled by Windows the same way. For Win 10: Settings, Apps & Features, Scroll alphabetized list to show Vortex, Click that to show action buttons, click uninstall button. Good luck.
