Please for the love of goodness though i think it would be really lame just to add playable dwarven races like sphere, spider and stuff :|
INNOVATE! REVOLUTIONISE! Hahahah xD
No seriously though i just think this would be really cool :)

Oh, another idea would also be that it would neccessarily be a playable race, but rather an in-depth questline exploring some ancient dwemer workshop and at the end of the questline you get the option to use ancient dwarven technology to augment your body, becoming essentially a robot or cyborg :3 (Which would just change your race to the new robot or cyborg race)

I think that would probably work out a lot better, just replacing a singlular limb, if someone decided to take up this project, they could simply add a new (Hidden) copy of each race with this replaced body part, and then when you complete the questline (If they decided to go with that), it would just change your race from whatever race you are, to the copy with the replaced limb :3 Would also work out a lot better in terms of armor and stuff, as long as the replaced body part is still close to the original shape of the body part, you can still slap armor ontop, as opposed to replacing the whole body or a lot of it because there's no guarantee it would work.

However, an interesting thing i just though of, Briarhearts, at the very least you could create a custom race with the briarheart body and replace the briarheart with a centurion dynamo core ;3 That would be a LOT easier to do, but doesn't exactly fit with the OP's wishes haha xD
Still though, a thought ;)
