minion5
ok guys, well I made a mod a while back called warzone, it was very unpopular, and many people didnt know about it, mainlly beccause it was rather small, all it did was add a rather big battle of NPCs the player could help out in. well Ive gotten bored and decided to make a sequal, this time, its the bandits attacking a Blades outpost. anyway, ive got a little problem. even though the bandits and blades should attack each other instantlly, considering the faction differance, but they just stand there in a intense stare out. so when i turn the agression up enough for them to attack one the other, they attack there own faction and the Blades attack the player!!!!! Please help me out, is there anything i can do to have the NPCs target a specific NPC? also, as a side problem, the battle tends to end up in a huge cluster of guys all attacking one guy instead of spreading out there forces, this onlly happens sometimes but still it looks bad. thanks again for anyone that helps. oh yeah, and if your suggestion is rather complicated, please post a tutorial suitable for a noob. thanks again. David Brasher
This is just a brainstormed idea, I don't know if it would work, but what if you created a bunch of new factions such as "Blades1" "Blades2" "Blades3" etc. and adjusted how much the different factions hated each other. Like if you could get "Blades2" hating "Bandits2" more than "Bandits1," then maybe all the Blades wouldn't attack one particular bandit.
minion5
yeah sounds like a good idea, but like I said, the blades and the bandits already hate each other, yet they dont attack each other unless I set the agression to an insane amount where they go basurk on everyone! thanks for the brainstorm though. Pronam
hmm. Its like you hit a npc with the mythic dawn as faction. While you're not in fight..ExampleSome IC guards.Someone from the mythic dawnMe the player All are in the same cell, just doing nothing...When I attack the mythic dawn npc, the guards will attack that npc, while I have not trouble at all.I'll not get a fine either....just have to follow the fight... Npc's generally will not attack each other, they will only protect people they like. Indeed if you set the aggression high enough, they'll attack everyone. But that's the rogue effect. So perhaps scripting an attack between 2 npc's of a different faction will trigger the others....
Ranokoa
Why dont you look at the very beggining of the game. Wherre you escorted the emporer. I found out that if you TCL to the mythic dawn, they sometimes do not attack. So, it is obvious that they attack by script or something. Idk i never looked. One way to 'start' things off is to have a AI package like training. Like the cat dude in the dark brotherhood, how he will shoot spells at that little target dummy thing. Do the same thing, except make the target directly behind a blade, and then as soon as other blades go to help kill the bandit, other bandits will go to help kill the blades helping to kill the bandit. Another way is to simply script it that they initiate combat, but avoid combat with the player. Idk how, but im sure it can be done. Another way is to simply set the BANDITS to aggressive, and not the blades. Who cares if the bandits go kill everyone, their bandits! The blades will just protect. Also, another good way to start things is to have a bandit AId to pick up a specific thing, in which would be considered stealing, and make one of the blades a "guard" but still in the blades faction. The guard would automatically try to kill him, and since hes a blade as well others would help, and other bandits would start. Have the bandit stealing in question be behind a wall or bush or something just a LITTLe out of players sight. Or, you can simply just do a little "behind the scenes" faction work. Instead of custom factions, set the bandits to be necromancer factions, and the blades to be mages. they kill eachother on sight anyways, so this could work. I'm running out of idea. Just take this suggestion, look around in oblivion CS and remember EVERY TIME there was a quest or something where non evil characters were killing evil characters, look at how its done. Such as mage guild quests, fighters guild quests, blackwood company killing the goblins, OH HEY! Goblins. Why dont you set it so that the bandits are part of a goblin tribe, and the blades are part of a different goblin tribe. Goblin tribes kill eachother on sight already. Just make the one the blades are on not hate the player, also dont forget to set whatever the bandits are going to be to be an "evil" faction. jonesjoshuar
I have not done much with battles yet. Yet with the script you can tell them to attack. http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/StartCombat the good thing about that function is that they always keep the target in question at the top of the list. Also you will probably need x markers. In the ai package make them run to the marker then if a npc comes with a certain distance start combat with that npc. x markers allow you to force the npc to certin points which should also help break up all kill one npc factor. The engine does not handle large scale battles though. Although there are a few mods that deal with working around the issue.
eXoduis
haha sounds dead funny really, will you please post the link when done?
minion5
^yes thats the plan, it really is a funny and fun mod. you could put in the console "tfc" to float around and get the birds eye view of the battle, or charge right in. it has no story behind it, just steel and blood. but yeah, thanks for the suggestion guys, im not too good with scripting but ill see what i can do. minion5
ok so ive been playing around with the scripts and AI packages, and still cant totally figure it out. ive tried almost all your suggestions. ive managed to have a few blades pull out their swords, then move toward an enemy, but he doesnt attack. since im a noob, does someone want me to pm you a link to download my file via filefront and try to figure it themselves? Ill give you a nice big spot in the credits!!!!!!!!! I hope someone takes this up, im planning on making more war-zone mods, and if you could figure this out, it would help in future releases, thanks.
