bitula
Hi All,I dont like reflex based games, Skyrim is an exception, but why there are no paused combat modes? It would make Skyrim perfect, and I dont see the difficulty in creating one. Just make 1 XBox controller button a pause button. It would pause the game with free camera movement to position my cursor to the target. It should also allow for preparing an action (draw bow etc). After the action is to trigger a hit the game would automatically unpause. Ofcourse there should be some cooldown mechanism as so to avoid "ultra frequent hits". Is this too difficult to make? chanchan05
Uh, use the slow time shout? That already accomplishes what you want. Also, from what I see, most people are more into the immersive mode of playing. Meaning they try to make it as realistic as possible. What you are suggesting isn't even remotely realistic. bitula
No, slowing time freely is extremly overpowered, I'd like something like NWN style semi turn based. It's not for realism, so it's probably not for the big public. It's for those who do not like that reflex determines outcome, a minority possibly, but since it is not something difficult to achieve, I wonder why such effort has not been made. Btw, maybe it is actually a difficult task, I just maybe have an oversimplified viewpoint. If so, please explain why.
chanchan05
It would probably require changing a whole lot of scripts, if it's even possible. You'd need the game engine to detect you made a move, then to make it pause everything around you and yet allowing you to have free camera to point and prepare your attacks, then unpause. You're essentially freezing the rest of the world around you in the middle of a game. The closest I can think of is either the slow time shout or the steady hand perk. Honestly though I don't see the attraction in such a combat mode. I've played enough play station RPGs to know turn based fights bore me. I just trudge through them for the story of the game. Also, the Slow Time Shout already does exactly as you want. It slows the game enough for you to make attacks and has a cool down. Also it seems against the design of Elder Scrolls, which had the same combat style as far back as I remember. I remember seeing an old video of Daggerfall in first person which seemed like a reflex based game like Skyrim is now.
