Quest for Glory style Skyrim Request for TES6 - Playing what you build

Not quite true, since you can Choose to be a Battle Mage like being a Fighter and a Mage, so no stereotyping there

Tell that to Brynjolf, everywhere i go he's there approaching me and talking about the heavy coin i carry. :ermm:

By the way, Nobody mentioned the Picture i made at the First Page through Photoshopping, how does it look

If you are arguing for better TES6, then you might have a point. But with TES5, quest developers barely acknowledged choice of the race, and as far as classes are concerned, designed the game to be practically classless. When I played Skyrim as a game (*), I only joined those guilds/factions that were interesting for my player character or for some higher noble cause. And what I adhered to: apprentice/journeyman of folk medicine from Hammerfell, came to Skyrim to learn more of the trade (**) - I did pick this before starting the game, much how I would make a character for an rpg or larp, just because I wanted to see if the game is flexible enough.

So, TES5 would be difficult to 'fix' it that way you propose. As for TES6, game designers may follow different principles and also make a good game. Remember 90's "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis"? Now, that was a cute three-classes-split game design.

(*) later I also played Skyrim just of curiosity what content I missed

(**) and because the healers guild in Hammerfell had too rigid regulations and suppressed my character career with long and tedious grinding questline ;-)

UPDATE:

I've re-read the OP. You have gathered there a nice collection of quest-extending-fix mods! :-) (it's not spoiler-free so I won't link to it as is, though).

I have to say I kinda like the Skyrim class or lack there-off system, if at first I missed choosing one.

As my character progresses through the game she seems to grow and change, like right now she's become more interested in magic and is debating giving up some of her hardwon smithing skills to progress more into a Spellsword.

And after the Markath episode (what you get sucked into after your first visit) she may very well have gone dark brotherhood for a murderous rampage, trust me.

I like that I feel that I have the freedom to do that and not be just one thing or the other, but then I'm a totally ambiguous person, and I can say I find it really hard to start a new character with out the helping hand of a class selection that would make it easier to play a mage after just about 600 hours of playing a dualwielder on one character. (Yes there is more than the one but she is my fav)

I played Fallout 3 between Oblivion and Skyrim, and you could spot the trend towards the skill tree there, as for being forced into choices to progresss the game, less so than others.

Logo? Do you mean avatar? Its nice, is that from Alladin? But it would be of topic

EDIT:Oh the pic on the first page, dude its writing on a black background, nice writing, guess I'm all 'branded' out, I loathe getting to the description of a mod by scrolling my ass off past all the pretty damm pics

Later Edit: I agree that the stuff that sits in my journal like the 'listen to whatsisfaces scheme' intro to the Thieves guild should give me a choice right there for the sake of gettting it out of my journal, and perhaps me approaching them later on if I want to go become a thief might cost a bit more effort to get the topic again.

And everytime I open my journal and see the 'come eat with us' on a corpse quest I grill my ass off, how revolting  Still changing the class system back to an previous system may not be the solution, and how do you lead the player to places they need to be if you dont ... funnel them a bit here and there, especially in an open ended game.

Ah, but accordeding to your system, Davetry, there are no battlemages. You said so yourself.

Ah Indiana Jones Fate of Atlantis, such Sweet Memories :D

I guess it would be difficult for Skyrim and hopefully something could be done for TES6 to block off certain Factions or change certain Quest ways, since i realize TES isent just your average Character Class Choice like i saw in the Oblivion Class Creation witch People miss, because now Abilities have Changed into Standing Stones in Skyrim where its supposed to be part of your Racial Power Abilities. I think theres a Mod that does that. :ermm:

Hmm, i think when you Choose a Character Class for TE6 the type of Skill and Abilities should be added to your Character so when you Choose to be a Fighter and a Mage, then Power Abilities from Standing Stones should be part of that type of Skill in the Menu you Choose.

Well there currently is the mod Ultimate Immersive Classes: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48570

This has the basic class/subclass concept you're looking for, but not all the restrictions. UIC is also going to have class rewards/quests based on what you chose. Currently a MCM menu is being added with a ton of other options, including random NPCs around the world with these classes. For example, finding a swindler in Riften every once and a while. Or maybe a brawler in an inn. This whole idea could be one of these options, so as not to restrict the players who don't want to be. I think it would be easier to restrict what the character could do though, rather than removing world content. For example certain subclasses can't wield staffs, rather than removing them from the world. Stuff like perk trees should NOT be deleted, because that represents your improvement in that skill. If you don't use that skill you shouldn't level up in it nor have perks in it. It does not need to be removed at all. Also, not learning from books would also be immersion breaking for me. It's a book, anyone can pick it up and read it, some just choose not to use its knowledge.

As for quests, those would be simple to restrict, without moving world objects. I could just make it so when you ask about magic they reply with 'You don't look like the magical type.' And Brynjolf never asks you to commit the crime.

Moreover, I would not make restrictions based on Fighter, Thief, Mage, but instead make restriction specific to each loadout (subclass). Some dual classes exist, and there are more to come, so they would not be restricted in either class.

Khajiit warrior, but he used Restoration to heal and expel undead

That would be a paladin in UIC, which would not be restricted from magic or fighting.

I had a Dunmer who didn't touch magic, but was very stealthy, even with a greatsword and was unarmoured.

Possibly a mugger in UIC, though I may make another class for something closer to this.

Not saying I'll actually do this. This mod is big enough that I will need multiple people requesting it. Personally, I'm happy roleplaying an not asking where can I learn about magic rather than not having the option given to me. I prefer this actually. But if enough people in the community give the push I'll consider it.

Though notably because this is not a mod request, I should add I do not like this idea for TES:VI. It's too restricting and I like roleplaying rather following a linear plot. That's why I play games like this, to become immersed in it. If I'm a warrior I won't equip a staff, nor will I run around throwing fireballs. Who says the game needs to tell me not to do this? And if Brynjolf came up to me asking me to steal some stuff I'd say forget about it. That doesn't mean the dialogue shouldn't be there. In fact, if it wasn't I wouldn't enjoy the game as much, because then I'm not roleplaying, the game is doing it for me.
