How to make a mod? :s

Recommended Posts

Argomirr and Batlham have given you some good tutorials to learn how to mod. Now I will tell you all the tools you can use.

To make mp3 and wav files (for voices and sounds), you need a microphone and recording software.

To make DDS files (textures), you need Adobe Photoshop or GIMP (free) with the DDS Plugin.

NIF files (meshes) require Blender (free), 3ds Max or Maya.

And, as Argomirr said, the Construction set is needed to create modifications that aren't meant to be texture or mesh replacers.

If you are going to do some serious scripting, I also recommend you get OBSE (Oblivion Script Extender).

There are a huge number of other tools out there to help you mod Oblivion too. I have just given you the basics.

Sorry to say this...but no one is going to hold your hand and teach you everything you need to know....

The only way to learn is read...LOTS

And experiment...Click on tabs and see what they do.

Don't be afraid of making mistakes, but back up what you are playing with.

Accept that there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth....

Keep a stiff upper lip and soon you will be able to look at your mod and say "cool".
