FCOM Problems

I remembered oblivion a few days ago and i decided to install FCOM. I installed everything fine and started a new character, but now whenever i get to the part where you pick up the bow and the dagger from the skeleton i get one of the missing mesh things. If i disable all of the FCOM mods the problems go away. I only have the FCOM mods, and the unoffical patches installed + SI and all the plug ins. Can i get some help?

I'm not an expert at this, don't know if I can really help, but lemme try. I say your missing mesh problem could possibly be because you forgot to install something such as the 500 MB + Francesco's Optional New Items-Creatures mod file, or one file among many other possibilities, or you could have forgotten to add/activate a esp. In your post it's not really clear if you know this or not, but to use FCOM you must download several other mods (not only FCOM: Convergence): the main ones are OOO and Frans, which are 400MB+ and 500MB+ respectively.

Some questions, because I find the info you give in your original post too little to actually help you:

-Have you followed correctly any of these (preferably taking a look simultaneously at both)?

-Could you post your active mod load order? It'll greatly narrow the possibilities.

yes i did all of that, it is the rusty dagger and the rusty bow that the skeleton is holding that are missing meshs. All of the mods are installed and i used BOSS to sort my load order. As i said, if the mods are uninstalled everything shows up fine.

BOSS is not perfect. It can only sort the mods that are already in it's database. There are now over 15,000 mods on TesNexus alone and BOSS only sorts about 1500. So it is easily one of these that boss does not sort that is giving overwriting your rusty bow.

BOSS places any mods it does not recognize at the end of its list. So that is where to look. Refscope will give you the designator of the bow. Then use OBMMs conflict detector to find what is conflicting with that designator.

Try moving that mod up above the one that places the rusty bow in the game.

Although I agree BOSS is not perfect, by looking at his load order and assuming he only used BOSS to modify it, you can see that his only probably un-ordered mods are:

QTdof.esp
Natural_Habitat_by_Max_Tael.esp
Natural_Vegetation_by_Max_Tael.esp
Natural_Water_by_Max_Tael.esp
Natural_Weather_HDR_with_darker_Nights_by_Max_Tael.esp
RefScope.esp

I'd say that among those, the only ones who could possibly cause this would be RefScope, and this QTdof which I do not know what it is. If it's not here, then your installation is missing something, and then the only complete way to avoid other missing meshes, would be reinstalling everything from a clean install, as far as I know. About your mods above the Bashed Patch, I have nearly all of those loaded and organized by BOSS, so they couldn't possibly be the cause.

First, run BOSS again, then try moving the 'not organized by BOSS' mods (to know this simply execute the BOSS.bat file and read the log, in the end of the log it'll list the unorganized mods) up to at least above Bashed Patch, rebuild the patch and try the game again. If the mesh is still missing, try deactivating RefScope and/or this QTdof, then rebuild the patch. If it still doesn't work, then I'd say the problem is really a missing mesh during the install, I'd then suggest you to reinstall everything from a clean install. If the problem happens again, redownload OOO, Frans and any other of those big FCOM mods, as they are most probably corrupted. If it still doesn't work, then I have no idea.

I assume you are with Shivering Isles installed as well as the official update, correct?

Why isn't Unofficial Oblivion Patch installed? You should have it (though I don't think it's the cause of this problem).

Rusty items are probably from either OOO or Fran (don't recall which one).

Ah, wait, have you registered Fran's BSA when prompted during the installation?

i do have it, but i was playing around with activating mods and i forgot to enable it again. I will try reinstalling fran's again to see if that fixes it.

I know it is one of The FCOM things becuase even if i disable all the other mods it still shows up, and if i disable everything (including all FCOM mods) it works like normal.

refscope is a utility mod that allows you to identify an object, especially the missing mesh objects. It gives you the game reference as well as the mod it came from. As it doesn't have any meshes, I doubt if it would cause the problem.
