Yes, i know this is some noobish questions, but i just got fallout 3, and would like to mod it like oblivion.

So here i go:

What patch should i update to? (i heard that some patches cause major problems)

What is NoFastTravel good for?

Is there some major mods that you need before you can install any mods?

Is there any unofficial patches that i would need for some mods?

What is the major mods out there right now?

Thanks!

EDIT::

Also, like in oblivion, is there a mod to skip start? >.<

1 - 1.5 is the patch that causes the worst problems. ive heard that you can fix it with fo3edits master updates, but i dont have experience with that myself. basically you can update to somewhere between 1.0.13 to 1.4.6 and then use the fake patch to do the rest.

2 - NoFastTravel is (i assume) for people that want a more realistic game and will always walk from area to area instead of being able to fast travel once theyve already been there.. its a personal preference

3 - no. but you should have FOMM and ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated installed before you use mods.

4 - there is an unofficial patch. it's a good idea to use it. also some mods will require FOSE

5 - there are quite a few.. and even more still in the production stage, once again it will be a personal preference but check out these ones and see if any interest you.

mmmf3

comm

fwe

xfo

so many acronyms...so little time

and you can also check out the ultimate load order, that has some tips and lists a few more mods too..

oh yeah and for the start skipping, there are tonnes of savegames on here that will start you just before leaving vault 101, so you can then customize your character before you go. and there are also a few that change the start quest, but i dont have any experience with those.. doing a file search for "start" will probably come up with a bunch
