1001Chances Posted April 16, 2023 Share Posted April 16, 2023 I have been using Cute Preset for years and would love to see a 4k version of the face? :D I messaged the creator of the preset (DonJunk) who would not do it himself but would allow anyone else to upscale the quality? RoNin1971 Posted April 17, 2023 Share Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) Hmmm, there's a few things 'wrong' with this: 1: You can upscale the (1K) image to 4K, but not the quality. For that you can only upscale 2x, 4x is never going to be good quality. "ok" at best. *2: The mod (file) states: "If you get brown face bug uninstall the High Resolution Texture Pack or any 2k/4k face textures, those are incompatible."3: Its not just one texture. There are 2 faces and a ton of 'additional' stuff, for eyebrows, moles, scars, tatoo's etc. etc. They would ALL need upscaling. & it requires mods I don't have. * = At a 4x scale, each pixel multiplies to 16 (42). This 1 pixel (plus surrounding ones) doesn't carry enough information for that to look good & detailed.Its my biggest obstacle at the moment for textures I'm working on for a mod. No matter how good they look with PS/Gimp and even NifSkope. They always fail a in-game close-up inspection. (too vague and/or noisy for example)In this case an up-scaler used (trained) for cartoons and/or manga might get the best results.
