junkmail102979
Brand new to mapping with the Fallout 3 toolset. I come from the Call of Duty mapping background, so this is new to me. I was wondering.... if I want to make my own map with buildings and quests and such, does it have to be tied to the Fallout 3 game? Or can I create a map where you start from scratch and it has it's own story and has nothing to do with Washington DC, or anything in the Bethesda game? I want to do a map set in California in a different time period. Would I be able to do that or is the only way to have the player load wihin their Fallout 3 game and then take that character to my map? How does it work? For instance in COD4, I can create my own Single Player map that has nothing to do with the regular single player campaigns and people can load into my map independently from the regular stock single player campaign. Same sort of thing with Neverwinter Nights. I create a map/mod and it stands alone as it's own map players can play. Is there a way to do that with Fallout 3? thanks
Lucidx
Yes, you can but modding fallout 3 is completely different animal that mapping in COD.
