Do I just extract the files and dump them in my skyrim game folder? The video I am watching says if you download anything manually to open skyrim mod manager and click add mod from file or something. If I remember correctly I think the first time I installed Skse I just dumped the files in the Skyrim folder. Nevermind. ill dump the files in the skyrim folder... lol ok I think that worked the desktop icon still says please update skyrim but the launcher files in skyrim work, they did not give me the error message. I am going to load the game fully now using Tes._exe or the other ones. Edited December 22, 2013 by Agentchaos360x
Agentchaos360x
Now all the different launch files seem to work here is what I have in my game folder and what they do skse.loader.exe- "Please install the latest version of Skyrim." SkyrimLauncher.exe Loads menu -then game after I hit "play" no errors in loading Skyrim_.TES.exe Loads game no errors TES.exe loads game no errors I think it's fixed. Now before I install any more mods I am going to finish watching the videos. But I have some questions. In game do all mods show up under "mod configurations"? For small mods will I have load different save files so the game doesn't break? Which launch file should I use? I guessing either TES.exe or TES_.exe those seem to be the Skse files I think. FiftyTifty
You want to use skse_load.exe. What it does, is it launches TesV.exe and then patches in the new script functions at runtime. SKSE mods require this to work. Mod configurations? I don't use NMM (Bunch of garbage), but if you load Wyre bash, you'll see all the mods. Any mod that has scripts, once loaded and then saved with when playing, will be embedded in that save. You must NEVER remove a plugin with scripts in it unless it explicitly states it has an uninstall method (As in, launch a spell to uninstall the mod/click on a tab in the MCM to uninstall). Anything that mentions clean saves (Unloading mod, loading game, saving game) is misinformed; there are no such things as Cleansaves with Skyrim. Or, well, you can remove a plugin with scripts in it after saving, but don't post any problems in-game because even the most unrelated of scripts, when removed after being in the save, can cause CTDs, crashes, messed up gameplay and the like. Because it is working. The mods I have currently are all working. I am launching the game from TES_exe. I don't see a skse_load exe. I see a skse_loader exe. FiftyTifty
Yeah, I meant to type SKSE_loader SkyUI's interface replacements don't require SKSE, but the more advanced features require SKSE, such as searching for items in the inventory via search terms. I installed one more mod (Better Vampires) and loaded a program called BOSS. it said my main files needed cleaned so I followed the youtube video in the guide. Having done that I tried loading my game. At the loading screen as the game save is being loading skyrim disappears and I am back to my desktop. Is it because I messed with BOSS or was the save file messed up by another mod. That guy gopher who has almost a 1000 videos on youtube says he installs many mods a day. So I am assuming save files aren't that easily screwed up. One thing I did notice in that TESSedit was there was two skyrim.esm files. Is that normal? Agentchaos360x
So I loaded an earlier save that worked. Then I loaded the save that was crashing and it loaded. What in world is going on? And I still can't get skse to launch. It might be launching I am not sure. I am launching skyrim from TES_.exe (shortcut) SKSE loader "Please update Skyrim to latest version" Now that I think about it I did run SKSEPatcheR.exe before I launched Skyrim could that have fixed the save? Also I need to know what to if Skyrim should become extremely unstable. The very first time I tried installing mods and the game would not work I panicked and did a reinstall of Skyrim. When that didn't work I made sure I did a clean install. I think in the process when I went to reinstall SKSE I downloaded it wrongly or something. FiftyTifty
When Skyrim becomes unstable, it's time to start afresh. There are a couple of things you can do to get a bit more mileage from it, but it'll just make things far worse after a couple of hours of game time. I'll tell you this: I've been modding since Skyrim first came out. And I'm still learning to get my procedures and methods right; I've currently got this issue where I get a CTD whenever I open the map. Chances are, I'll have to do a complete reinstall. If SKSE loader keeps giving that error...Right click TesV.exe -> Properties -> Details -> File version. Tell me what it says.
Agentchaos360x
Ok the loader file gives the error. (skse_loader.exe) This file (TESV.exe) does not. 0.1.6.16 Also it seems like the pattern is this Skyrim works I install new (simple mod) Game breaks Game works Install new mod. Game breaks. Once I get a few choice mods to work I am done no more mods. I don't understand how people can install many mods and have stable game. Agentchaos360x
Currently I start up the game and none of the saves will load. If I start a new game I am just staring at the logo screen.
