Inumo
I just recently finished installing Oblivion to my computer. I've been using this guide to try and get it up and running, but when I try to patch it up to 1.1 before I install Shivering Isles, it gives me an error at 13% saying "Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." The error refers to the file OblivionLauncher.exe and I'm not sure what's going wrong. Anyone know how to fix this? I haven't put any cracks or mods into the original install folder, though if copying the original Oblivion.exe file for backing up would mess with it, I did do that. I'm running Windows XP with a NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT graphics card. Thanks!

If so, you install disk 1, then when you install disk 2 it correctly patches the game.
DremoraChurl
If you're going to install Shivering Isles, don't patch Oblivion.SI by itself will upgrade your Oblivion to 1.2.0416, if not somewhere close. Although just FYI, I had your error in trying to patch Oblivion, before realising my Oblivion was the north american version*. I just switched patches (http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm) *that might have raised a few eyebrows.... I had a legit copy and the DVD became worn and uninstallable. bben46
Bben's patch recommendations If you got your game through a download such as D2D, You have to go to them for any patches. The ones at the official site will not work because of the D2D copy protection. Programs like OBSE will probably not work because of the D2D copy protection. If you have a pirate version, sorry about your luck. Don't be so cheap, buy the game. If you have the Game of the Year version, you don't need a patch. To find what version you have, look in the lower left corner on the loading screen. If it shows v1.2.0416 you already have the latest patch. You only need to install the latest patch, v1.2.0416, all of the stuff from earlier patches are included. If you have Shivering Isles, DO NOT use the Oblivion patch, ONLY use the latest Shivering Isles patch. All of the oblivion stuff is included. There is only one English version SI patch for both US & UK versions. If you DO NOT have Shivering Isles, use only the latest Oblivion patch for the language version on your original install disk. Be sure to get your patch from the official Bethesda site where they have FREE patches for every language version, There are 2 English versions, UK & US be sure to get the one that matches your disk.
