TheSims4 Career - what's the point'

I am kind of new to this game, but there's something I have a hard time understanding the sens of: careers.

In the mod section there are different career paths, some interesting, some weird, some for adults.

Now, if those were jobs, in which case I could follow my sim to work and anjoy the experience I would understand.

But it seems to me I cannot do that.

The only jobs seem to be Detective, Scientist and a third one which I don't remember now.

All the rest are kind of closed to me when the sim goes to work.

Am I missing something?

Can I get some explanation on aspects that I am somehow missing?

oh no your not missing anything, basically those three jobs have extra 'quests' like for example the scientist job will eventually have you manually scoping out and uncovering aliens infiltrating the place, even though its pretty obvious who the aliens are, but it also helps you by pushing you to make specific things like again using the scientist carrer as an example, you need to make a satalite using the robot which you can only gain access to whilst at the science lab you work at unless your using cheats making it so you can buy the robot for your home

the other jobs are pretty straight forward and dont require any interference from the player
