Whare is/are the most popular dragon mod(s) to use today?

Let's face it, dragon mods are severly lacking. Yeah, there's plenty of them, but seemingly all of them have issues ranging from compatibility to stability to glitches bad gameplay features to even outdated models.

 

Trying all the ones available for LE, I never really found one I liked. I've tried to find a way to figure out which dragon mods are most popular these days, but its proven impossible. Its rare for any youtuber to mention dragon mods anymore, and simply looking for the ones that got the most endorsements over the past year omits pretty much everything that wasn't UPLOADED in the past year.

 

I'm really sick of vanilla dragon fights and want something different, but I can't have that. I can overhaul pretty much every other hostile group in the game other than dragons. I can change up combat, give falmer and dwemer automatons new attacks, but I can't seem to do crap about dragons without some sort of drawback. I mean, deadly dragons and ultimate dragons actually makes dragons EASIER despite their advertising. Ultimate dragons makes it possible to stun them for long periods of time, which in my testing more than negates the triple health they get. Deadly dragons makes dragons KILL THEMSELVES WITH THEIR OWN ABILITIES. Seriously, with DD you don't need guards to kill dragons for you; you can just hide somewhere and wait for the dragon to die. Its pretty dumb obviously. Well, unless you're facing those dragons that have abilities that clip through walls, which I've heard is a glitch and NOT an intended feature. I've always been annoyed with the meteor attack which clips through ceilings, which is obviously stupid.

 

I can go on like this all day. All dragon mods suck, which is a shame. I did look into backporting dragon war, but my computer won't let me backport meshes so I can't do that (though I did backport the 'variants' plugin before it was SLASHED AND BURNED BY ITS OWN MO). Really, it feels like I can't find a 'good' dragon mod, I can only chose the one that's least bad.

 

Anyway, what is the most popular dragon mod(s) to use today? Really, to me that feels like Elemental Dragons. Yeah, its glitchy, unstable, hard on performance, and lacks compatibility even with non-dragon mods (I found monster facial animation adds werewolf heads to some of its summons, apparently because they re-use the vanilla werewolf race, seriously). Of course, there is no dragon mod that doesn't have issues, and at least the elemental dragons are more impressive to watch. Besides, its designs are the best of any dragon mod in my opinion. Don't know why, but I never cared for really any of the designs from Diverse Dragons other than the lunar and silverfang dragons. There is also splendor, but honestly the one playthrough I did with it (making it the only dragon mod I did a full playthrough with), I found that it was rare the resulting random combinations didn't look bad.

 

Sorry for the ramble, what should I go with? Does anyone even try to play with dragon mods? It just seems hopeless. I've long wished I could mix-and-match features from various mods to make my own, but I just don't have the tools to do that. My stupid buggy creation kit can't even compile scripts because I'm apparently missing files that should come with it for utterly no reason (and I'm NOT talking about those ones you have to unzip yourself). Literally half the features of the stupid thing don't work for me, and its the exact same story with the SE creation kit too! Even completely re-installing it doesn't fix the problem. Fml. I can't find a decent dragon mod, and I have no way to make my own in any shape or form.
