oneuppwns
i formated my PC and after re installing my oblivion i cant get any mod to work. im not a heavy modder i just trying to get the beautiful people pack to work so my models lookd decent. ive modded my oblivion in the past, i think all i did was put the esp file in the data folder and checked the box in the launch opitions. do i have to do something else also, like patch oblivion to make it modable doubt this has anything to do with it but i figured i'd post my specs xp 32bit 2.5 gigs OCZ ram8800GT q6600 680i mobo also if it has to do with the version of obivion i have how do i check. sorry if this is super noob question. not really a big modder
DremoraChurl
There are three kinds of mods. Some consist of just an esp. These are mods which adjust game settings (such as "double all damage"), or change Oblivion using built-in resources it already has. (such as "put 2 more Bandits here") Some don't need an esp, they just involve placing resource files (eg "new grass graphic") into the right place in your Oblivion folder, whereupon Oblivion uses them over of it's own data (Textures.bsa etc). Some mods involve resources *and* and an esp file to bring them into the game. (say you designed a new weapon, but you want to 'add' it to the game rather than overwrite an existing weapon - it has no place in the game, hence an esp to add it in places, or to shopkeepers) I've just downloaded 'Beautiful people', and it's the third kind. You have to copy "Meshes", "Sound" and "Textures" to your Oblivion\Data folder; I'm guessing your Oblivion is at C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion. Say 'yes' to overwriting those folders.
oneuppwns
thanks alot for your impute help me understand them alot, but NO mod works for me. ive downloaded 9000 mods. i even downloaded a mod manager and follow every step. i click replace all if its a mesh or file type. im putting everything in the right spot. theses mods are super simple i have no idea why there not, or any mod is working at all. even basic esp that have nothing else but a simple file dont work. i even downloaded a save file of some custom characters and it said content was missing and crashed. even though i know 100% im putting the content in. program files/// bethesda //// oblivion //// data
DremoraChurl
I've realised 'beautiful people' doesn't improve the looks of the standard races, it just adds it's own. Which other mods aren't working for you? In the case of other people's saved characters not working, the blame can easily lie with them not mentioning their whole modlist.
