My Fallout 3 multiplayer suggestions

I just wanted to make sure this got read, otherwise I would have replied on Honeybiscuit's topic.

People keep debating on all the problem multiplayer will bring in because of the VATS and all. In my opinion:

the VATS should be disabled

Main quests disabled

Waiting be disabled

Spawning will work with mapmarkers

Players have a singleplayer profile, and a multiplayer profile (so we don't get 20+ lvl players killing beginners)

Now to tell you the truth, I'm rubbish at coding in the geck.

I don't know how hard the above will be, but those are just my suggestions.

Well, I usually don't contribute much, but this seems like a good idea, so I thought I would throw in my two cents.

VATS

VATS is one of FO3's most prominent features. Without it, Fallout is just an Oblivion clone with guns, but VATS adds a whole new dimension to strategy and game play that we just CAN'T take away. It would ruin the game.

Now, I know that the normal VATS would not work on a multiplayer edition of the game, so I suggest three alternatives.

1) VATS in real time--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The name says allot about what I am thinking, but allow me to explain further. When one targets with VATS, time stops -- with Real Time VATS (RTVATS) you could target different body parts without having to stop time.

Imagine you and your friend are in the Capitol Building - got it? Okay, now, you are in the dome, fighting the behemoth, and you two come up with a plan. Your friend attacks it and grabs its attention, luring it toward you, the sniper, who is sitting about 100 feet away on top of a table. As your friend lures it closer, you activate RTVATS, and select different body parts -- since its real time, the behemoth can continue its advance -- and then, when it's close enough, you confirm your targets and fire. Target eliminated.

RTVATS would be like an automatic targeting system -- you select the different parts you want to shoot while your friend distracts it. However, to use it you would have to remain still, and you cannot fire while in RTVATS mode; while you are targeting you are also helpless. There are some obvious drawbacks to this, but I think it could work.

2) Localized VATS-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

However, I still have another idea. What if, instead of freezing everything, VATS only froze things in your immediate area? This way, your partner would be unaffected (as long as he/she was outside your range) and you both could function independently.

Imagine, for a second, that you are fighting with your friend -- let's use the behemoth again. This time, your friend targets the enemy riff-raff in the room while you use Local VATS on the behemoth. He freezes, and you have him all to yourself. After squeezing off a few rounds into his head (and you run out of AP), Local VATS closes and you switch with your friend. Now YOU target the riff-raff while your friend uses Local VATS on the behemoth. You switch up a couple of times until there is nothing left of the opposition. Targets eliminated

Now, to avoid any sort of exploitation, your partner would not be able to penetrate your time warp zone. Bullets would always miss (curved away by the field) and explosions would lose most of their power by the time they got through the field. That may be a little complex, but wouldn't it be cool to watch someone shoot stuff in bullet time while everything outside the field is in real time?

3) Team VATS----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One more mkay? Right, so we have gone over ways to make VATS not effect team battle, but what if we could make it A PART of team battle? I am talking about a VATS co-op, where both you and your friend enter VATS together and murder the opposition.

Okay, so you are fighting that behemoth again (aren't you getting tired of those things?) and you two are the only ones left in the room. It sees you, and charges, but you two were ready for this. Once it gets close enough, your friend alerts you that he is entering VATS, and you should do the same. Once both of you are in Team VATS, you can freely select whatever you want to shoot, and then confirm. However, it is a team effort, so you'll have to wait for your friend to confirm as well. Once he does so, you can commence bullet time auto-target action. Target eliminated.

Of course, the issue would be agreeing how often you should use VATS. Your friend doesn't like VATS at all, and prefers to us manual targeting but you always use VATS because you aren't very accurate with your gun. To avoid a fight, this version of VATS could be combined with another version. For instance, you can use RTVATS solo, and Team VATS together. That way, you can use VATS without stopping everything, and if your friend wants to use it, then you CAN stop everything. After all, this is a team effort, so working together will be very important.

With so many choices, how could we afford to simply drop VATS? We need VATS, because without it, Fallout 3 just isn't the same.

Alright, commence flame war! :thanks::thumbsup:

I was also thinking of RTVATS, I think it will be the best, because it will encourage team cooperation.
