Help with racemenu

Recommended Posts

I bring to my fellow modders and mod users a mystery.. at least to me because i'm completely lost.

I have Skyrim SE version 1.5.97

My SKSE is version 2.0.20

and i use Racemenu 4.16 which is the lastest for my version of the game.

SKSE now gives me a warning that it expects a 65 intstead of a 64 concerning Racemenu.

As far as I can see all my versions are right. Version 4.16 is the lastest for my SE. You can see it on the uploaded date.

What i want to know is: if not 4.16 then what should i been trying? I tried an older version of it 4.12 that makes the game not even start, same with 4.14.

Please shed some light on this. I'm begging, this had been doing my head in for the past three days. Thank you to any soul who answers.

1.5.97 check

skse 2.0.20 check

racemenu 4.16 check

make sure that any other dependencies are up to date (for 1.5.97)

I don't get that message and run with the same ones you note, nor do I even understand what it's saying "65 instead of 64" ????

did you downgrade to 1.5.97? IF so, you may might maybe still have some leftover "AE" stuff.

Here is the warning I get:

RaceMenu Error(s):SKSE script version mismatch detected (64) expected (65).

Please reinstall your SKSE scripts to match your version. Eroor Codes:(1)

I've verified all my versions a thousands times, it all checks out! That's what making me so frustrated. I have tried SKSE 2.0.17 but then the whole game doesn't even boot.

I've copied the .pex files into scripts in the SKSE folder of the game, and that also hasn't made a difference. (suggestion I read over at the racemenu mod thread in the Nexus)

Oh and answering some of your questions, i play 'Best of both worlds' version of Skyrim. Since i downgraded over a year ago i never had a problem.

Thank you so much for your reply, i really appreciate it!

Ok! I just had an idea, and it appears to have worked!!

I remembered that I had a 'mock' mod of SKSE scripts in my load order, and they were from way back. The moment I unticked the 'mod' my game seems fine. I pulled up racemenu, and it has all the functions, the buttons seem to work.

The small mod was part of a Gopher tutorial (bless the man!) that taught me how to install the damn thing back when.. My theory is that I had been using an older version of both mods and when I wanted to play a survival profile on Saturday I was told to use another SKSE to make it work. That's how I think I broke my game and this debacle started.

For anyone who might come across this post, know that the posts on the thread of the mod page from April/May 2023 probably have the answer you are seeking.

@ anjenthedog- Thanks again for your help!

No problem friend. I didn't actually do anything, perhaps aside from jogging your memory, but whatever makes the ball roll...

Puzzling though. Now that I read the error in full, it almost appears to say (in my warped mind) "Dude, you're playing 1.6x, get with the program and update SKSE"

PS> 2.0.20 is the latest greatest final SKSE version for Skyrim 1.5.97. Just to settle any confusion on that count.
