RCTLongstreet
First of all. don't take away my PC master race card. Please! Anyway, I just got Morrowind (and oblivion, and planning on getting Skyrim, but let's keep it at Morrowind first) And of course i plan to mod it to hell and back. Problem is, i have never done such a thing and wouldn't even know where to start. Are there like special programs I need to make the mods work? Or are they, or some of them, just installation files that i need to install in the Morrowind steam folder? Figured some mods that might be useful are the code patch and the Graphic / sound overhaul. Although with the latter i read that there are some problems with it (at least the page i found) So if anyone could provide a link to the version that works that would be great) Any other input on what to use would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
bben46
First - start simple, get the game working properly without mods, then add ONE simple mod and make sure it works before adding any more. Then don't add a bunch of mods all at once - just a few at a time and test before adding any more. Always read the documentation - not all mods install the same, and some have requirements such as other mods that must be present first.
CassidyCross0001
You could spend hours modding Morrowind, installing mods one or two at a time, finding them in game, making sure they work, backing up everything up every five seconds, or you could use the overhaul 3.0. They both have pros and cons. The overhaul is simple and easy to install (maybe about a 25 minute process) and visually is absolutely stunning. It's also preferred when using the overhaul that you use little to no other mods. I personally suggest doing this, Overhaul 3.0 with light modding if you are just looking to play through the storylines and soak in the greatness of the elderscrolls. Modding the entire game with individual mods is a pain, but you will get out what you put in. This website has thousands of mods, and there are so many things to see and discover in game. However, I wouldn't put this much time and effort into it if you're just looking to get through and move on to Oblivion. Direct download from forumhttp://www.ornitocopter.net/v3-0-release/ I also suggest mods like: Balmora Expansion, Hell House X, and Pearl Palace Edited January 12, 2014 by CassidyCross0001
hollaajith
Mods change the way game looks, and works. If you are playing the game for the first time, how do you know which to change and WHY to change. I suggest playing the game vanilla first without any mods and then when you feel like changing things, add mods.
Spirithawke
I agree with Hollaajith. If you have never played the game before, play it without mods first to know what you like and dislike about the game before making changes.
