Help needed creating seasonal portraits

I've edited some sprites and portraits of a mod to be seasonal but I have no idea how to actually implement them into the game. Since it's only Haley's portraits for now, I'd also like to be able to override the original content patcher mod. I'd really appreciate some tips or a tutorial or something, thanks! ♡
