coronerra
Look this has gotta sound strange I know but while I've been modding Oblivion for about a year now, I know nothing of Fallout. I heard the title before but didn't even know the game was the futuristic counterpart to Oblivion until yesterday when my mother-in-law called up and told me she got it for me. My wife's picking it up now and I'll see her late tonight. So this brings me to a whole new world and condendrum. What mods do you guys recommend? I'm buying the official expansions. But I'm an eyecandy freak. My favorite top 10 mods for oblivion include: 10)Sexlivion9)Demonic Consort Mature8)Lost Spires7)Arena Alive 24hours6)Frostcrag Reborn5)Deadly reflexes.4)Chins Demon Race.3)HGEC and Roberts 5 Bodies.2)Illuminated windows and Chimneys and #1 Favorite Mod is.... well actually a group.1)Qarls Retextures 3 and all the signs/SI/Fruit/Book retextures to accompany. I'm an eyecandy guy like I said. Beautiful and ugly I like it looking the best. So any recommendations?
mechine
Well if you wanted to you could just get a few weapon mods an then play it in vanilla. I played for about a month just learning vanilla an haveing fun. I didn't know there were mods for it. :o It can be tricky an there are a few patch problems going on right now.I'm not sure about it but it may make things more difficult if you run the bethesda add ons.I myself haven't looked into it, but saw people talking about it here an there.I mean there was so much content in the vanilla game I'm still waiting on addon stuff for way later. Learning how to use the GECK is really hard but really worth it. GECK is like a creating tool with a render window for players.Same for FO3edit advanced stuff. Still learning it, but it helps making edits to the mod numbers an stuff. FOMM is great an easy to use, picks load orders, unpacks BSA files, like if you wanted to unpack some of bethesdas large archive filesFOSE is great, allows player made scripts, missions, smoking cigarettes, and full integration into the user interface in the game worldAll of this stuff does a whole lot more than what I said, I'm still noobish... This load order is new, an way to big an silly for myself to fix so the load order may not be right yet, works though.Pretty much you learn what you can an then post your load order when you run into problems. There are some current load orders they are working on stickying I think I haven't seen it yet. A few worth mention here are VATS - MCE.esp (changes VATS so it's not all based off distance, there's skill an other stuff in there) VatsLongerDistance.esp (activate VATS from way too far away)Precision_AutoAim_6000.esp (Disables auto aim almost, but keeps what it needs to make all weapons fire at the aim dot) FOOK (Huge file of tons of great stuff if you don't opt to get the vanilla retextures you can keep most of the vanilla gear) HZ_Glock.esp (is a new one a real high quality Glock 18 pistol) MMM (This mod series, past the totally awesome point like 6 updates ago, It's gone past perfect) CALIBR (bullets an ammo, not all guns use CALIBR, but there are so many guns in FOOK that do, it makes CALIBR even better)KaBOOM.esp (is great, huge realistic explosions even more so than the vanilla version) There are a lot more too that are really great, but some of these I shouldn't even be using together. If you get too much stuff then there's just stuff in there you don't know about an can't enjoy really.Plus there are a few I had to leave out that are really great I didn't get to loading yet. There a a few really large overhawls, so you can use all of those or a bunch of small mods contained in some of the overhaulsor a mix, you know... You kind of make your own world to suit your needs, which is why playing vannila for a while helps. Please help me fix this load order, I did what I could, but there so much it all looks like 1's an 0's to me. Alundaio
Take a browse through the Models/Textures category. http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/cat.php?id=
Baelkin
This list is also a pretty good starting point for picking some decent mods. It might be a little outdated though, and some of the mods do change some of the vanilla game aspects so I'd recommend not installing any mods of that type until after completing the game once (including the official download packs). In any case, you should plow through the different categories yourself and see what you come up with. People have differing tastes (I like to keep my enemy difficulty and overall game functionality close to the vanilla game for instance, but I also usually use a good deal of different texture packs), so you are likely to miss some great mods for you if you don't do a little legwork yourself. ;)
NBS
Here ar some incredible texture packs by NMC Megatonhttp://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1662 Rivet Cityhttp://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3612 Terrain (and patch)http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=774http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=866 Imo there the best. Also search for Weapon Mod KitsXFOMart's Mutant ModOwned!DarNifed UIF3 and of course pick the latest FOMM and FOSE, and the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch is a must. DO NOT PATCH TO VERSION 1.5!!! Huge problems have been caused with the new patch and mods, thank Bethesda for that. Instead I suggest version 1.1, just look for the "Official Plugins" section of the Nexus. The best suggestion I can give you is to play the vanilla game a little. FInd out what you liked and what you want changed up a little and look for a mod, and it's always a good idea to check the Top 50 and the Files of the Month often to see what the latest and greatest mod is. And also I forgot to recommend body replacers, my personal fave is Type V, along with the armor replacer, but other excellent ones are DIMONIZED Type 3 and BABE. I think someone ported over Roberts, but I'm not sure, I don't use it.
coronerra
Hey guys, thank you so much. I downloaded over a gig of texture replaces today and it's awsome. Alundaio, you were right on about browsing threw the models and texture catagory. I was scared to do so before due to remembering how long and tedious Oblions is doing that. This is short and simply by comparison. After play for about two hours today I'm utterly amazed. It's like Bethesda kept an eye on the modding community and took the majority of the work out for us. It's like they added the open creates and barrels mod to many models, a tweaked version of deadly reflexes, no longer needing pinnacle profiler to use a 360 controller, and many more. This is impressive.
